Suspect Arrested in "Top Chef" Gay Bashing Case

matthew wall, josie smith-walaveNew details have emerged regarding the vicious attack on "Top Chef" contestant Josie Smith-Malave and her friends over Labor Day weekend. Nassau County police department reported that they've arrested Matthew W. Wall, 20, of Oregon, and charged him with second degree robbery and a bias crime. He was arraigned yesterday.

Police report that Wall, along with approximately twelve of his friends, were involved in a confrontation with Smith-Malave and three of her female friends. The altercation escalated when Wall and his posse allegedly began spitting and hitting the four women and making derogatory statements about their sexual orientation.

According to the police report, Wall "forcibly stole a video camera from one of the four, causing her to fall and injure her knee." The investigation is ongoing.

Smith-Malave appeared on the second season of "Top Chef" and was rejected in episode five.

93. It really is no wonder our society is on the brink of a major meltdown. The mentality of gays and their sympathizers assumes there is no natural law and that everything is random and virtually ANYTHING is OK. Wrong!! Great societies of the past have discovered this truth just before they were swept into oblivion by various occurrences. It is unfortunate that you twisted, sick freaks insist on taking everyone else with you. The result of the arrogance it takes to contradict what nature intended is always catastrophic; but for your pleasures of the flesh, you don't give a damn. Here we have a man who stood up to a woman who decided she was a man inside, ( total hogwash ) , who was looking for trouble; and now he is in trouble more for his opinion than anything else. Too bad he didn't thump some sense into her while he was at it.

97. Worth repeating: I find it interesting that all of you horrified by the gay-bashing are
wishing harm, sodomy and other various forms of evil on this man, but mostly that he gets raped by another man. So is the punishment for a straight man to be victimized by a gay man? That doesn't say much for you.

If someone at TMZ found it offensive that is too bad, it was perfectly acceptable language in light of what has been posted by some of those who disagree with me on this board. 99. Bill, you are wasting your time. Homosexuals do not feel that they are doing anything wrong. Even if you show them passages in the Bible, they still don't care. If you don't believe that their lifestyle is somehow a blessing, you are the one with issues, not them. They want you to be the tolerant one, not them. They want you to accept that it's okay - even if God says it is not. They want to be above God.

104. Matt Wall and his 12 friends are cowards and pigs. 12 so called "MEN" against 4 women. Please!!! Too bad they are so unsure of their own sexuality they have to pick on women to make themselves "feel" like men. I hope they ALL get a very stiff sentence and a LOT of community service.
