Phil Spector -- Hung?

The jury in the Phil Spector trial has indicated to a judge that they have been unable to come to reach a verdict.

Superior Court Judge Larry Fidler says he is considering giving the jury the option of weighing a possible manslaughter charge. The jury is currently considering only a second degree murder charge against the music producer.

The judge has just asked the jurors how they are split. The foreperson has told the judge they are divided 7 to 5. No word on how many are voting for a guilty verdict or how many are leaning towards acquittal.

50. I have come to the conclusion that these rich criminals in California have to be buying off one or more of the jurors just like the Mafia used to do. what else can explain something like this? An accident would be more believable than Lana going to a perfect stranger's house (after he had to beg her) and killing herself. And the driver was completely credible. If Spector gets off, I will never watch another crooked trial in California and that jury is responsible the next time he shoots someone. I didn't even think this would have been close. unbelievable.

51. So, everybody here knows for certain? This is better than Nancy (gag me) Grace!!!! Last I heard, there was no residue on him, which is a strong element of defense. I don't care one way or the other except that a life was lost and another possibly thrown away.

53. celebrities never pay in justice guess they have so much money they can buy off the juries?
If he gets off on aquittal, every single person should write to their congressman to change the laws to reflect everyone.
It is going to be a sad day for her mother, this man is not innocent he is guilty as charged, an this needs to finally be addressed how would you feel if it was your child?

54. #40 LaLocke, I agree with you. I thought the prosecution did an excellent job. Especially Alan Jackson. That is why I think the fix is in. Even if it is 7 guilty and 5 not guilty. What is in the minds of the 5???

56. No way, he is obviously responsible for her death. I was on a jury that was 10 to 2 and 10 jurors changed their vote. It happens sometimes.

57. i think the judge is going to offer them the choice of manslaughter. . . i watched a lot of the trial, and while i don't believe spector planned to kill her, he'd just pulled a gun on one too many women whil he was drunk. this time it went off. and, he needs to served his time. face it, he's old and likely won't survive a prison sentenced of even a few years. he just doesn't appear too healthy.

58. Well, I guess that someone in her family is going to have to sue him for wrongful death ala OJ. What other recourse is there now?

59. It was a tragic accident at either Phil or Lana's hand. The forensics say it was Lana's hand. No way could the prosecution prove their case from a scientific basis. The defense actually did prove the gun wasn't in Phil's hand when the gun was fired through forensics. That's why the prosecution just relied on past behavior where Phil never actually shot anyone and hear-say from someone who may have struggled with English, could have misunderstood and had an agenda. People rightfully so are angry that Phil has pointed a gun at anyone in the past but that doesn't prove he pulled the trigger on Lana. If these prior victims came forward before this, Phil Spector probably wouldn't be able to carry a gun at all. Not guilty of killing Lana but unable to carry a gun would be the perfect turnout. Phil still made brilliant music and no one can take that away from him. Free Phil Spector !
