Vegas Cops Don't Have O.J. Tape -- Yet

Las Vegas authorities do not have the audio tape of the confrontation that led to Simpson's arrest, but it's coming soon.

Thomas Riccio, an auctioneer who recorded the tape, tells TMZ that last night, his lawyer negotiated immunity with the Las Vegas District Attorney. Riccio's lawyer wanted to make sure his client would not be prosecuted as part of the team that allegedly robbed two men.

Riccio recorded 20 hours of tape, including conversations with Simpson, as well as interviews with cops after the incident. Riccio's lawyer wanted to make sure the D.A. would not go after Riccio for possible illegal recording, though Riccio says nothing was illegally recorded.

As to whether O.J. knew he was being recorded, we now have an answer. He didn't. Riccio did it of his own accord, placing the recorder on a piece of furniture when it all went down.

Riccio says the initial plan of confronting Alfred Beardsley, a sports memorabilia dealer, was hatched by O.J. and he simply went along with it. Riccio says the plan was to create a phantom buyer of Simpson memorabilia, enter the room and give Beardsley two options -- either return the goods to Simpson or O.J. would call the cops. Riccio says he was stunned that it went down differently.

Riccio says when his lawyer gets written confirmation of the immunity deal, he'll pop the entire 20 hours of conversation in a FedEx box, probably sometime today.

31. Offer this guy immunity?? Hell no. The cops can get a search warrent or an oder from a judge to get the recording. By own admission the recording exists. Thy can't deny it now. it's not like a statement in someones mind that can be "I don't recall" ed later. Ricco was the mastermind, brain child of the whole operation. OJ is less cupable than the other three guys that entered the room without guns, and they are free and not charged. Doubt still exists and the security camera video hasn't been released if the group entered the room by force or if they were welcomed in the room. If they were welcomed in the room the whole situation changes. We're being led to belive the group got to the door and kicked it in and barged into the room as a "Home Invasion Robbery" My opinion is The group appeared as perspective buyers that the sellers didn't know OJ was a part of were welcomed into the room to view and verify the existance of the goods. When it was confirmed that instance it was his OJ went off verbally... Not physically. They took all what was belived to be his.. and celphones and left. Now, they "Stole" celphones...That is a crime, so they should be held accountable, but the phones were returned. Those that stole OJ's stuff should also be held accountable, but OJ 's stuff will be returned--- Unless the Goldmans and Browns get it. Final outcome should be Goldman and Browns get the stuff, OJ and the other crooks walk away.

32. Why are there no kidnapping charges. O.J. apparently stated that no one was allowed to leave the room - isn't that considered kidnapping?

33. 27. TJ

TJ you missed it.

HE WASNT "STEALING"....HE WAS THERE TO TAKEBACK WHAT WAS HIS THAT WAS STOLEN FROM HIS MOTHER'S HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted at 12:02PM on Sep 18th 2007 by i dont think he thought he was stealing

34.

No.27 Tj -- TJ, on the tape, he refers to the itmes as "my stuff." - so i think in his mind he was not stealing but taking back what he considered belonged to him or his Mom.

i think he went about it the wrong way, but at the same time i understand it and dont think the police should make it out to be this big armed robbery they claim. The first thing they should do is find out how the people got O.J.'s personal items.

And O.J. should receive some punishment for how he went about it, but armed robbery? C'on!

36. Some Thing Stinks In Las Vegas

I have listened to the illegal audio tape that Ricci made in the hotel room and I can't hear anything were O.J. threats anyone. All I hear is him ranting about his stuff. I never here the guys saying that the stuff is not his.

I also kind of wonder. Your in a hotel room and 4 or 5 bust in and two of them have guns. You never here of anyone saying, "Put the guns down!" "Or don't shoot me!" Strange isn't it. We also got the impression from the first news info that Ricci was not there when he was because he is the one with the tape and turns it on. But he got his butt out of town quick. O. J. said that it was a "Sting Operation" that they planned that turned bad. Yeh, on him. He is the one that got set up on a "Sting Operation" against him by Ricci. Now who paid Ricci to set O. J. up? Goldman? I wonder!

The cops in Vegas have a mess just like L.A and they should have investigated as to whose stuff it was in the first place. Next you have a person jailed with no bail. Bull crap only if you are charged with murder. One guy charged with the same charges as O. J. and arrested Sat. is released on OR and O. J. is classified as a flight risk. Could you please tell me where in the hxxl is he going to go? The guy is classified all over the world as a murderer. I thought that O. J. was declaired NOT GUILTY?

It is illegal to tape a conversation unless both parties agree to the tapeing. Ricci is a convicted crook and O. J. is not. What anyone thinks about O. J. is thier personal business. If you believe that he got away with murder then believe what you want but the American Justice System says that a person is innicent until proven guilty. O. J. has also been convicted by public opinion. If these charges go to trial where are you going to find a jury. Anyone who says that they have not heard or read of O. J. is lying if they say that they can be a jurier and not heard or read about it.

Las Vegas wise up have the trial on the South Pole and pick the penquims for juriors. Las Vegas you might be able to save face. SOME THING STINKS IN LAS VEGAS!

37. I didn't miss a thing. If I heard OJ on that tape saying "Hey, dude...can I have my stuff back? If I don't get it, I'm calling the police." THEN, he's not committing a crime. What HE did was a crime.

38. Sounds very fishy to me and sucks for OJ that it is going to come down to this to put him away. I mean he did get away w/ murder! He's one of my personal heros b/c his case goes to show you that if you have a enough money , you can beat justcie. What a great country we live in!

39. Shame RICCO!

He did set that whole thing up!!!... He even said, at the party before the crime, that he knew OJ was fired up and worked up with anger...

(and what's up with that background he uses while being filmed? I've often thought that guy appears to be in some sort of spacecraft, rather than in a studio.)

AGAIN- RICCO- THIS IS YOUR CLAIM TO FAME?
... a scandal w/ a has-been celebrity/ MURDERER? SHAME!!!...

40. Harvey. Destroy this tape so OJ can be free. This is ridiculous. He was set-up. Let him live free.

41. Even if media attention increses sales of that book, OJ doesn't stand to gain doe$ he?

Posted at 12:35PM on Sep 18th 2007 by ~OJ is a KILLER~

42. The armed robbery claims stems from the fact that OJ took some idiots cell phone. Yes cell phone. And that another idiot was holding a gun. OJ did not hold the gun.
Free OJ. Come on people. Where is your disgust at what's happening to OJ.

43. Sorry folks...if you read the statute again it specifies "intercept of a wire exchange" which this was not. I'm no attorney, but this just may be a sticky point.

Nev.Rev. Stat. Ann. § 200.620: The Nevada wiretapping statute provides
that it is a crime for anyone to "intercept" or disclose the contents
of any wire communication, but that no illegal activity occurs when
the interception is made.

44. OJ thinks he is above the law.

He is a SOCIOPATH!

HIS ANGER IS OUT OF CONTROL!!!

The MORE he gets away with, the MORE his over inflated, self-destructive EGO will grow...

until one day, HE WILL KILL AGAIN!!!...

45. 20 hours of tape?? It must be 20 minutes.
