32. Seriously, get over it. For one thing...if you're were an african mother or father you'd be singing a different tune. Proverty people all cultures have it...and if these stars want to adopt an african, chinese, or whatever let them. Making a difference is what counts.

33. I really resent the glib way that you people trivialize African adoptions. Funny, no one seemed to mind or find commentary necessary when thousands of Americans adopted Chinese baby----didn't seem worthy of comment. Interesting, the disparity.....

An orphan anywhere is a child without parents. It doesn't matter where the child comes from. It doesn't matter where you adopt from, it doesn't matter where Oprah opens a school, or who you donate your money to. It just matters that you do. Please back up why we should only adopt from our "culture", which by the way, happens to come from pretty much everywhere, BUT here. But mostly, please tell me why that child deserves any less chance in life than a child here. Do explain.

44. I am all for adoption. Being able and wanting to adopt is great. And that's adoption of any child.

Maybe celebrities (people with money/assets) are choosing to adopt children from other countries not because of any lengthy process in the US but to avoid any problems with natural parents at a later date. I would think It's much harder for a birth parent in a foreign country with no assets to try to make any claims for their child or money from a celebrity. Madonna seems to be the exception.

Why is it that Brad and Angelina are now the "spokespersons" for adoption? Celebrities (and non) have been adopting for years. Josephine Baker, Harpo Marx, Cecil B. Demille, and Eve Arden are just a few famous folks who adopted children before it became, what it seems to be, fashionable. Other celebes who adopted include Kirstie Alley, Mia Farrow, Michelle Pfeiffer, even Kirk Cameron have adopted children. But it seems the only folks who will take credit, as it they started a movement is Brad and Angelina. Give me a break!

Hopefully both mom, baby and son are happy!
