Radio Host: Colbert Stole My Klingon Joke!

Air American host Cenk Uygur claims that Stephen Colbert stole a joke of his -- centered around comparing Republicans to Klingons. Nerd fight!
Cenk Uygur/Stephen Colbert
Uygur claims he made the joke during a September 7 broadcast, and Colbert made a similar one four days later. He even posted a YouTube video backing up his claims. In it, Uygur says, "As O.J. would say, 'Think you can steal my sh**? Up against the wall motherf**ker.'" Quoting the Juice is never a good thing.

Uygur, who hosts the show "The Young Turks" every morning at 6:00 AM on Air America, even went as far as to say he'll sue Colbert for $65 million -- a number he came up with after reading about a judge who sued a dry cleaner for that same amount after the dry cleaner lost his pants. He joked, "Can you put a price tag on humor?" Neither joke was all that funny, so $65 mil seems a bit much.

Colbert has often engaged in feuds both serious and funny, but his rep had no comment on this one.

16. Actually, it's BS that no one listens to progressive talk radio. It went from less than 1% of the market share 3 years ago to about 10% (an enormous jump in any industry).

Fox news lost almost half a billion dollars the first 5 years it was in existence. It takes time. I'm a huge Colbert fan, but I'm going to blindly rip apart Cenk or Air America. More people hearing a progressive message to counter the O'Reilly, Hannity, Rush, Glenn Beck (and the list goes on and on) and other conservative talking heads of the world is a *good* thing, period.

PS---Try listening to The Young Turks *before* you make a judgement. Oh yeah, and a tiny clip doesn't count. Finally, why compare a *political* talk radio show (that is sometimes funny) with a political satire show on Comedy Central that is supposed to entertain more than inform (granted, it does both but still)?

19. Colbert, steal joke??? I'm sorry, but in the world of internet, blogging, and television there is ample opportunity for anyone to copy anothers idea.
It's happened to me several times already.
In fact, this past weekend I blogged about the Mormon hunks calendar, "Yeah, Mission more like Mission Impossible".
Yesterday, on the TMZ television show, what do I hear??? "Yeah, Mission more like Mission Impossible".
Sound familiar???
I wasn't thrilled, however, we all hear things and repeat them... it's human nature.
I know , I am a talented writer ,and isn't imitation the best form of flattery?
TMZ are you hiring? Pls. let me know.

This is a publicity stunt. Both Cenk and Stephen are in on it.

They'll make a good run of this on the 2 shoes.

29. Comedians steal jokes all the time. Get over it, loser. However, I wasn't aware Carlos Mencia was a thief. Anyone have a real incident?

30. It's all a joke, the lawsuit is not real. It's causing a minor stir and points out how humorless most people are. Can't you folks see that much.
