26. #9 Avril rocks: she doesn't write her own songs. Like so many 'talented' people in the entertainment industry, they pay a lot of money to be able to put their names on the songwriters list after each song on their album sleeve. CNN interviewed a genuine songwriter who writes for a lot of the big stars, and essentially said as much. Songwriters, in order to get their names out there, generally have to sell out and allow the person who's singing their song to put their name down as the songwriter, when in fact all they probably did was change 'and' to 'the' in the lyrics. Avril Lavigne was cited as one of those stars. She's not a songwriter.
