"Bewitched" Star Alice Ghostley Dies at 81

Alice GhostleyAlice Ghostley, who was best known for playing Esmeralda on "Bewitched" and Bernice on "Designing Women," has died at 81. Ghostley died Friday at her home in Studio City after a long battle with colon cancer and a series of strokes.

Ms. Ghostley won a Tony for best featured actress in, "The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window." Ghostley's film credits include, "To Kill a Mockingbird," "The Graduate," "Gator" and "Grease."

Alice Ghostley was married to actor Felice Orlandi, who died in 2003, and is survived by her sister, Gladys.

17. Ghostley was indeed Aunt Esmerelda. There might be some confusion by some people about this: Agnes Moorehead played Samantha's mom Endora. Alice Ghostley played Sam's bumbling aunt Esmerelda.

27. She was such a talented actress, so funny! May she Rest in Peace. I think the only actors that are still living are Tabitha and Adam, maybe wrong. I wonder what ever became of the little girl that played Tabitha?

29. Her sister NEVER played Gladys on Bewitched. Alice Pearce and Sandra Gould played that role.
