33. Regardless of color, social and economic background, age, or any other stereotypes, the fact remains that people that hurt animals in a brutal manner are serial killers in the making. Sociopaths, totally lacking in empathy and sympathy for anyone or anything else. They care only about their own wants, needs, and desires. They have no qualms about killing a dog, abusing a child, raping a woman, or robbing an old person if it helps them fulfill a need. Even if that need is entertainment because they are bored. As the population increases we will see more and more of this behavior. Scary world, isn't it?

If this case and the Vick case were told to me without me having any knowledge of their skintone, I would still feel exactly the same toward these acts and feel exactly the same that people, regardless of any race or background, should be harshly punished for such crimes. I hope they catch more of these animal torturers - be they white, black or green and bring them to severe consequences of justice. It is a shame that those scouts weren't held accountable at the time as well.

37. I don't believe the caucasians are really pointing solely to the blacks as perpetrators of dog abuse and dog fighting. From what I read, they were just pointing out that it's ironic that the reports seem to involve only black people. We [I am caucasian] know that in the real world that people from all ethnic backgrounds are involved with dogfighting.

The REALITY is that low income groups tend to perceive dog fighting as a normal occurrence in their world. It just so happens that in many metropolitan areas [percentage wise] there are more blacks that caucasians in the low income housing projects.

We can't really call it a class issue, either. By and large it's related to low incomes, but high income persons are also involved to some degree [generally those perhaps who rose from neighborhoods where dog fighting was a way of life].

I understand why the blacks may think the caucasians are pointing the finger towards them, but they really are not. They are pointing the finger at the fact that it's acceptable "sport" in low income groups.

It occurs to me that one of the ways we can all be more united is to stop calling ourselves whites or blacks. We're AMERICANS. Not African-Americans. [I don't call myself Slovak-American.....just American.]

We need to be less divided. EVERYONE needs to see dog fighting, regardless of whether the person involved is white, purple, or neon, as a heinous crime. Period.

44. OK--Huckabee's kid DID brutally kill that dog in the late 90s. Google him. As I said, abuse of animals in children is a SERIOUS warning sign!!! There is also a report that David Huckabee had marijuana in his school locker & wasn't prosecuted. He was also stopped at the airport this year with a weapon in his luggage. WHY HAS THIS GUY GOTTEN A FREE RIDE? Hmmm?

Frankly, shielding this kid from his bad actions as a kid doesn't seem to have helped out David as an adult.

Whether or not his father used his influence is a legitimate question since Mike Huckabee is running for president...

45. as a pit bull owner, i dont give a crap what the color is of the abuser, i just want it to stop...pits get such a bad rap its all from the owners but too many people r too ignorant to realize this....so quite with the race talk and lets focus on idiots that r cruel to any animal, for they r the innocent party
