DMX's Dogs: Buried Bodies Had Serious Wounds

DMXTwo dogs found buried at a home belonging to rapper DMX had serious wounds, authorities investigating neglect allegations said Saturday.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said one dog had serious bite wounds and another had trauma to its abdomen, but causes of death were not determined. A third dog was burned so badly an exam was inconclusive, reports the AP.

The investigation stems from an Aug. 24 raid of DMX's Phoenix home, when police were probing allegations of animal neglect. Police seized 12 live pit bulls, numerous weapons, and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana from the property.

"We have 12 dogs who were abused and three dogs buried in the yard," Arpaio said, "someone's going to have to pay."

DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, said: "How do you attribute activities to a person who has not been there, when they have knowledge that other persons have been. Is it because of the celebrity nature?"

No charges have yet been filed against the 36-year-old rapper.

61. Yes let's use up jail space for these crimes against dogs. That way we can set more violent cons free so they can go back to killing children and women. Don't forget that means we can turn more bangers loose to return to drive byes and God only knows what else. So lets use up jail space for these dog killers and the hell with the real victims of crimes.
I am not saying what these men did is right and they should be punished. I just think we need to keep in mind that these were DOGS not human beings. A dog or any other animal is not equal to a person. Vick will never play football again and will have to live with the backlash of what he did for the rest of his life. That is far more punishment than he should get. I am sure DMX will get the same.

64. I don't know where people get this from but one black person (Whoopi, Michael Vick or whoever) cannot speak for an entire race of people. If dog fighting were truly a cultural thing, then I definitely would have seen plenty of that while growing up since I was raised in a very low income environment. I don't recall ever seeing a group of kids purposely training dogs to fight. If anything, I'd say it became a fad. Once pit bulls &/or rottweilers became the "it" dog of the moment, everyone wanted one.

Then it became an issue of...."my dog is badder than your dog" and this is where I tend to believe the dog fighting came from. Just my opinion. And I personally do not believe that DMX would purposely hurt his dogs or any dogs.

Of course, I have not met the man, but from listening to his music & reading his autobiography, he seems to be a man who identifies heavily with dogs, even has a HUGE tattoo of a dog on his back. I've read in his book that he felt, as a child, that dogs treated him better than his own family, and he often slept with them. That doesn't sound like the type of man that would hurt them. Whether or not he would fight them is questionable.

I did read that DMX hadn't been at home for a good while when these findings came out, so its possible that someone other than DMX was supposed to be taking care of his animals but failed to do soor whatever the case may be. None of us really know anything & this is not something all black people are into &/or low-income people. Its a stereotype & I wish folks would stop saying that, because as a black person, I find it insulting.

Apparently there are some non-black people who are too stupid to realize that there's a whole other world of black folks out there other than the retards that the media loves to spotlight. I guess some non-blacks think that all we do is sit around watching dogs fight while we make babies, collect welfare & sell crack.

Can't say that those types don't exist, but on a whole I doubt its like that, you can't lump us all together. It shows a disturbingly limited point of view & lack of common sense really....lol.

65. Sounds like this lawyer needs a swift kick in the a.. for even defending this jerk. Who cares if DMX (Dumb Mother XXX) was there or not. He is ultimately responsible for what happens on his property. As for DMX, he should be starved in a kennel cage with Michael Vick for about a month before someone throws a piece of meat in there!

66. Lisa,

Re your comment number 62. You should do some research on what happens to kids to hurt animals after the kid turns into an adult. Quite likely a large percentage of the population sitting in jail for murder and other crimes against humans had in their backgrounds abuse in animals.

Odds are that if you go after the animal abusers and educate people that animal abuse is illegal and morally reprehensible, over time you will reduce the number of aggregate inmates sitting in jails.

68. Tee,

You need to go back and read the entire thread objectively - without bias.

69. I don't car what DMX excuse is! If he really loved those dogs he would have checked up on them. He knew what was going on. He needs to be charged and convicted. Maybe he and Vick can be cellmates.

73. Is anyone shocked to learn that some-one who makes a lucrative living by preying on young minds, robbing them of a balanced perception of life and their own potential , ...someone who rapes young spirits then dismantles any hope they may be nuturing while employing the long worn out and disgusting flag of "Black Truth" lyric,...does it really shock anyone that this same person would exhibit early Jeffrey Dahlmer, and participate in this most repulsive form of "Blood Sport"?
If there is shock, it is better placed toward the apathy Officials and CEOs have embraced for far too long a time.
Prison for this particular Uncle Tom would be too light a punishment.

75. I don't care how long it's been since he's visited the property. If it's his property, it's his fault. Besides, who really believes he hasn't been there, or somehow condoned this atrocity?

Damn, I hope he gets burned all over his body the same as his dog.
