Kiefer Sutherland Popped for DUI

Jack Bauer isn't untouchable after all.

TMZ has learned that "24" star Kiefer Sutherland was busted on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood last night, after allegedly blowing more than twice the legal limit of .08. This is the actor's second DUI in the past five years -- he was arrested in 2004. By California law, if he's convicted, he must serve a mandatory minimum of five days in jail.

Police sources tell TMZ 40-year-old Sutherland was pulled over around 1:35 AM PST on the corner of La Cienega and Beverly. Sutherland was at the FOX Fall Eco-Casino party at Area nightclub earlier that evening. The photo in this story was taken at the event.

Sutherland, who was stopped after making an illegal U-turn, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and transported to the Hollywood Police station. He was booked at 4:09 AM and released at 5:42 AM on $25,000 bail.

We're told Sutherland was "cooperative and mellow" while he was in custody.

According to the L.A. Sheriff's Dept. website, the actor is 5'10" and weighs 150 lbs.

Sutherland is scheduled to face a judge on October 16.

A rep for Sutherland told TMZ "It would be premature to comment at this time."

32. On August 8, 1991, Gary Oldman was arrested for drunk driving in L.A. and released on bail the next morning. His passenger in the car was his friend and fellow actor Kiefer Sutherland.

37. Getting a DUI isn't the worst thing to happen. Having an accident and maybe killing someone would be worse.

Don't be disappointed in him. Hopefully he'll learn his lesson.

On top of that, I'm thoroughly bummed that I weigh as much as he does and I'm only 5'5".

41. Jack Bauer does what he pleases, he's got stress, hell most of China wants to kill him and his daughter thought he was dead.

But in all seriousness he made an illegal U turn, I don't know if signs were there or not and he tested over the limit. Lets hope this is all handled with some dignity and not turned into some circus.

42. I am baffled by the mentality of these actors, actresses and celebs that are often being busted for DUI, as well as drug addiction and abuse.

They know they are public figures and so the public would always hold them at a higher stand. This should be the reason why they must always strive to behave themselves.

But instead what we read about them all the time is how irresponsible and naughty they are.

They have money and can afford to hire a chauffeur or a driver or a limo to drive them to and back from the bars where they go to drink.

There is no reason why they should be DUI.

For this reason, the law should treat them more harshly than the average citizen to set an example.

DUI can be dangerous because it can destroy innocent lives.

Hollywood should stop giving acting roles to actors, actresses and celebs who continuously drive while intoxicated or abuse drugs and people should start boycotting their movies and TV shows and stop fawning over them to send strong messages to these brainless twits that their irresponsible behaviors are dangerous and unacceptable.

It is bad enough how they make millions of dollars (that they don't deserve), acting in movies and TV shows that glorify violence, murder, sexual depravity, war, racism, homosexuality, bestiality, necrophilia, sado-masochism and every type of immorality and decadence that pollute and destroy the sanity of the society. To be driving under influence is like adding salt to the injury and rubbing our noses to it and this should stop.

43. What is wrong with these people? I mean they have so many advantages and they do nothing but screw up. How can they be so selfish even with them selves in life.

Hollywood is full of waste!!!

44. Question is why was bail set at 25K? DUI suspects are normally released OR even if a second offense. Must be more to the story.
