My only hope is that by shedding the light on Vick's involvement with dog fighting, bringing him down off the ivory tower everyone puts pro athletes on, it might force the NFL to start questioning other inhumane acts - such as domestic violence - among their players. It is sad that we take more interest in dogs than human beings, but I think the same reaction would occur had Vick's crimes been toward children. It's the innocence factor that accompanies animals and children that is most disturbing. However, if this case sends a wake up call to the powers that be, at least those dogs will not have died in vain at the hands of greed.

WILD DOGS BLAMED FRO SLAUGHTERING GOATS

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- Three wild dogs in Volusia County killed three goats on a local farm.
One of the dogs was put down, but the other two are still roaming the rural farming community off State Road 40 near Ormond Beach.
The dogs have chased people before and now that they have killed animals, residents fear that they could be the next victims.

Two male dwarf goats survived the attack. They have wounds on their throats and hind legs, but they should survive.
Homeowners Deborah and Jeff Shulz said they are horrified that three pregnant female dwarf goats were killed in the attack.
The Shulzs and their neighbors have a lot of livestock, including mini horses, and they fear that these animals could be next.
"My three pets are dead, and they were all pregnant. My 89-year-old mother that found the dead goats could have been the next victim. Come on, somebody is going to die here. Somebody please help us," Deborah said.
Animal Control officers are helping the Shulzs protect the rest of the livestock. One dog has been found and put down, but the others are still roaming wild.
The Shulzs' message is for other animal owners to contain their pets. It is possible, however, the dogs were dropped here and left to roam by their former owners.
Animal control is checking the area more often and may set a trap down the road to try and find the dangerous dogs.

69. -- To the one who mention "Jena 6", that judge should be thrown off the bench!..I am not black, and I am not male, but it doesn't mean I can't see racism when it raises it's ugly head........and Jena 6 is all about racism........Something serious should have been done when the nuses appeared on that tree......maybe then, it wouldn't have gotten so out of hand....and furthermore, besides peta in dealing with this particular case, how do we know that some of the hatred being spewed out from others isn't about racism and hatred. .I didn't even know who Vick was until this case......but the world knows about him now....surely, there are some non-blacks out there somewhere who are involved in dog fighting.....bring them in and I will be persuaded that there is no racism involved in this case.

FORT RILEY, Kan. -- The Defense Department has confirmed the death of a soldier in Iraq one day after his wife gave birth to their first child, a son.
Spc. Joshua Reeves died Saturday when an improvised bomb exploded as the Humvee he was in traveled a street in Baghdad.
His wife, Leslie Reeves, had returned to Hendersonville, Tn., to be with her parents while she had the baby. She gave birth on Friday and named her son Joshua Jackson Reeves. Both mother and child are doing fine, according to friends of the family.
“A tremendous joy came into the family and then all of a sudden we got the sad news,” said family friend Lynn Joyner. “No family would love to have a baby born and then have the father or the mother taken away from them. We don't know why.”

The soldier's parents also were told on Saturday of the death of the oldest of their five children. James and Jean Reeves live in Watkinsville, Georgia, about 60 miles east of Atlanta.
The family says Joshua Reeves was scheduled to come home on two weeks' leave in November.
He was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, based at Fort Riley, Kan.
Reeves’ father also served in the Army.
Sunday, James Reeves wrote a letter to President Bush. "Please do not let anyone leave Baghdad until the mission is complete,” the letter said. “The lives of our young men will be wasted. Please do not let this be another Vietnam."
