Sick Vick: More Charges Today?

76. I know how hard it is to hear the details sometimes 'oye'..... but we need to hear them, to get mad. We need to hear them to get motivated and to get up and take a stand. I watch Animal Precinct EVERY night. I go to bed disturbed and pissed off. I can't sleep after some of the things I see. Sometimes I say to myself "WHY do I keep watching this..." But I'll tell you why, the more bad things I see the more I want to get involved. The more I loathe the bad guys and want to make a change. I, for one day, would like to own a gun and know I won't get caught...
I'm sorry for the anger I have but it motivates me and I now help run an animal rescue because of it.

83. #71--If you are not too busy....why not get actively involved in peta or some other organization that works hard to stop cruelty to animals? . .If you feel that passionately about the subject, I am sure your efforts will be much appreciated?

I truly think that would be a good thing. I wish I had the resources to do something like that, but I do want to add one comment about your post.....There are many faces of evil...the important thing is that when we all look into the mirror, we don't see that face staring back at us!....no offense intended.

84. animal abuse is animal abuse, i don't care if it's a cat, a dog, a rabbit, a horse. Vick needs to go to prison. as for the observations that the woman who killed her "preacher" husband serving less than 12 months and Vick might end up serving more time, you're right, there doesn't seem to be any justice in that but that's a whole other issue.

86. I am a psy professor who was a child and family therapist. Vick's decision to do this isn't based on his ethnicity or where he grew up. It's about what he considered exciting or gave him that adrenaline rush, stimulating him and making him feel some level of emotion. It's unfortunate that it perpetuates stereotypes. We need to not only look at the barbaric treatment of animals, but the use of a firearm to destroy the dogs. It would be intertesting to screen for epinephrine levels and adrenaline levels when he doesn't have a firearm in his hand and when he does (a doctoral dissertation for someone). What Vick has done is heinous act and we as a people should not tolerate as an acceptable practice. We do need to keep in mind that stereotyping this in any way, is wrong. I believe Oprah made a significant error in judgment by stating it's we he grew up and the southern mentality. It's a horrible generalization of an area that does not necessarily deserve this reputation.

For those of you that think using insanity as a way to get out of something, it doesn't work as often as you think. I have done work for different court systems, and the insanity defense is easier to disprove. Thus it is not used as often. We need to remember that the crtiminal justice system will dole out the punishment Vick deserves. And regardless of your attitude, the system can work. It does fail on occasion but it has the thge strength to see through this issue. He did plead quilty to charges, so we know he committed the crime. Let's see what the judge in this case will decide.
