All fair minded American should be uncomfortable with what's going on in Jena. We are all equal! Read below and send Governor Blanco a message to free Mycal Bell.

As you are aware, Mycal Bell's adult charges have been overturned but he still sits in shackles in an adult prison in Jena, Louisiana.

After his adult charges were overturned, I heard that the District Attorney had 14 days to recharge Mycal Bell as a juvenile and he was allowed by law to keep Mycal Bell in jail for those 14 days while he made his decision on what new charges to hold Mycal Bell accountable for.

Mycal Bell's attorneys have now stated that there is no such law that gives the DA Walter Reed or Sheriff Carl Smith of La Salle Parish, Jena, Louisiana, the right to hold Mycal in jail. So the Parish of La Salle in Jena, Louisiana is pretty much just holding Mycal Bell as a hostage – outrageous!

What is exceptionally offensive to me is that even though Mycal Bell is charged with the 'kicking and beating' of Justin Baker -- no one knows for sure that he, Mycal Bell, actually did any of the kicking or beating.

Of all the witnesses at the scene of the fight (Black and White students), only one person (one of the guys who hung the noose) said he that saw Mycal Bell kick Justin Baker – he had ulterior motives, so who knows if what he said was true? But District Attorney conveniently took the word of ONE student (out of many) and opportunely charged Mycal Bell as an adult for man-slaughter and a number of other charges.

What is Walter Reed’s motive to charge these young men with these trumped up charges? It seems that the only reason that racist District Attorney Reed Walters charged Mycal Bell, Robert Bailey Jr., Carwin Jones, Bryant Purvis, Theo Shaw and Jesse Ray Beard for the kicking/beating of Justin Baker is because those 6 young people were the 6 students at the front of the group when the Black students assembled and walked together and sat under the White tree.

Reed Walters never forgot who 'led the march' to the tree and charged the 6 students WITHOUT any evidence that they actually participated in the kicking and punching of Justin Baker – even though some of the 6 has said time and time again that they were not even close enough to touch Justin Baker during the fight. However it was irrelevant to Reed Walters that they did not participate in the kicking and punching of Justin Baker, he wanted to prove to the 6 that if they had the courage to protest against what the Whites did, he would use the power of his pen and make them pay for standing up.

Even IF Mycal Bell did kick Justin Baker, he has already served 10 months and should be released. If he was charged as a juvenile he probably would have received some type of probation. As it is today, he has served 10 months which is probably "over payment" to the juvenile system so why is he still in jail?

The parents of one of 6 teens facing the possibility of years in prison took their plea for help to Congress on Tuesday, September 25, attempting to build on momentum gained last week after tens of thousands of people from across the country rallied to free their sons.

Black congressional leaders said after meeting with the parents of Mycal Bell that they would hold hearings and ask the FBI what it can do to intervene in the case. This process could take months and that means that maybe Mycal Bell would continue to sit in jail for months.

Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco as head of the state of Louisiana has the power (with the stroke of her pen) to pardon Mycal Bell, issue an executive order and do something to get him out of jail immediately. Whatever Congress can do might take weeks or months, but what Governor Blanco does can show results in minutes or hours.

I implore you contact Governor Blanco’s office and ask her to take a stand and to free Mycal Bell.

44. When I said I had friends that are black, white and asian, I never implied that I was labeling them. Whatever you thought, you are wrong. You interpreted the wrong message: I can now see why people can take the bible and can have 10 different takes on what was supposed to be a positive message. but, if you want to think I am racist, or whatever, than that is your priveledge and your opinion.
