Britney Spears doesn't have a lot of people left in her corner these days, but should she ever need it, she can count on support from ... Ben Stein?


The former presidential speechwriter/game show host was outside of Mr. Chow and he couldn't have been more thrilled to talk to TMZ about Britney. Stein called Britney a "real authentic American," saying, "She gives her kids Doritos instead of carrots, just like every other American."

In what America is Ben Stein living? The deep South?

31. TMZ- Why do you constantly put down the "South"? Not everyone that lives in the South is trailer park trash. Just because we say "y'all" doesn't mean we are ignorant. I love your site but am quite fed up with the constant degrading comments about people from the South. I lived out West for several years and came back home to Georgia for the down home, feel good, southern hospitality that is alive and well down here. Please stop dissing the South. By all means, dis Britney, but not the entire South!

33. I am an American who happens to be fortunate enough to live in Alabama, certainly the deep South. We do not prefer Doritos to carrots for our children. Please refrain from demeaning a whole section of our country with comments that are so silly and without merit.

36. hahaha...racism b/c someone is from the south? How is that RACISM? Southern is not a 'race' of people, the south is a geographical location. Someone needs to learn the definition of the word 'racism'.

37. Right on Ben thats the way my momma fed me and i turned out great. We picked Brit to be famous cause of her talents. She raises her family the way she learned. Talk to her family if you dont like it. if you hate her dont wait with baited breath for her next fau paux tie her out....
