Jury Finds Isiah Thomas Liable on Harassment Claims

UPDATE: The jury has just awarded $11.6 million in damages to Anucha Browne Sanders.

A federal jury has found that basketball legend Isiah Thomas sexually harassed a former New York Knicks executive.

The jury in the $10 million sexual harassment lawsuit deliberated a little over two days before deciding in favor of Anucha Browne Sanders.

The case, which has gripped New York, painted a picture of the Knicks' front office and Madison Square Garden as a place where sexism and crude language were commonplace.

Browne Sanders, a married mother of three and a former college basketball star at Northwestern University, testified that Thomas initially called her a "bitch" and a "ho" when she began working for the organization, and then began making unwanted advances toward her and encouraging her to visit him "off site."

Thomas denied all of Browne Sander's allegations, and his attorneys portrayed her as incompetent. Thomas did, however, acknowledge trying to kiss Browne Sanders in December 2005, asking her, "No love today?" when she recoiled. Garden President Steve Mills said he spoke with Thomas about the incident and was told it wouldn't happen again.

31. I knew there would be racist comments made on this story. Anytime a black person is mention in a story the racsit crawl from under there rock. The internet has become the white hood of cowardliness the Klan is known for. TMZ should go the way of yahoo and just get rid of these comment broads or at least not tolerate the overt racist post. Freedom of speech is one thing, but some of these comments are nothing more than racist hatred.

32. A lot of us around the Detroit area remember seeing Isiah Thomas going after groupies, barmaids and waitresses in several Detroit area restaurants during the 1980's. This was all going on while Isiah's pregnant wife patiently waited for him to arrive home. He had a huge two-timing, womanizing reputation twenty five years ago.

33. The Knicks were idiots to let this case come to court. Even if they believed they would win, the team's image was irreparably damaged by: Thomas' caveman behavior and theories of who can and can't call a woman a bitch; Marbury's truck escapades with an intern; Dolan's lacksadaisical response, etc. They were absolute fools not to settle and now it's biting them back in the ass!

Somewhere, Larry Brown is smiling!

36.
The guy is guilty and they should just pay the money and tell him to get lost, move on instead he wants to play a game of drag it out for what reason? He is a sleaze who will be guilty again
He should spend time cleaning up his act, Not lying on camera about his innocence!
When he looses his appeal I hope they double her win.

42. This story gave the public a peek into the sexist, "Animal House" atmosphere that is prevelant in most of sports. And Isiah is the definition of a star athlete who was a god to those around him and, therefore, was used to getting his way his entire life. Nobody probably every called him on his bad behavior, much like the Knick's badboy star Stephon Marbury, who bangs interns in the back of pickup trucks.

44.
Madison Square Garden needs an over haul. I'm glad they did not pay her off early, making this go away.
So many losers have fallen in sports and I'm glad.
Hope it continues until all organization's are reorganized into something more honorable.
How can we tell our kids interested in a sports career to stay in school, keep out of trouble when they see the low moral bar of the people they want to be apart of!

45. Did Ms. Sanders get her job back? I thought that was one of the terms of her demands. True justice would be served were she given her job back, with Thomas and Mills out on their collective rears.
