"Kid Nation" to Go Overseas?

kid nationIs reality TV show "Kid Nation" being treated with kid gloves because of its controversial content?

A source close to the social experiment program tells TMZ that producers are scouting foreign locations because they're having a difficult time finding a U.S. spot willing to host them. It seems that many potential places would rather not deal with child labor issues associated with the show.

Despite (or because of) negative press, "Kid Nation" is doing well in ratings. A rep for CBS said that the location for next season's filming has not been determined.

16. Why not send them to Costa Rica or Mexico?

Ok I know that the government downthere from time to time close "schools" and return the children to their parents, so they have to find a new semi-jail aka. boarding school to lock them in, but we are talking 2007 and parents should not do the parenting themselves. That is why there is ed-con, nannies and therapists on the market. They are trained to do it better.

Lock at the celebrities. They are setting a good example doing just that.

I have an offer. Next summer also we will continue our offer of a equestrian summer boot camp. We are prepared to let the cameras in.

Both the teenagers, parents and film-crew should be so welcome.

17. I love the show and watch it with my kids. I'm also a teacher with a master's degree in Education and I don't think they're doing a thing wrong with those kids. Some are likely to be the leaders of tomorrow- like that 14 year old Michael kid... he's bright and really motivates his peers. I don't know why there has been such a fuss but it's ridiculous and, if you ask me, some people are just WAY too sensitive to putting ANY pressure on kids at all. That's where spoiled brats are born, actually... and if you're one of the parents who think this is horrible (Kid Nation and the challenges of the kids on the show), chances are your kids are the spoiled brats I'm referring to in this commentary. In that case, GOOD LUCK to YOU with your future McDonald's employees and/or jr. convicted felons.

20. The only "fans" of this show are child predators. Don't tell me you mothers enjoy watching children cry and be exploited for money. If you do, you're a sick person and you need help.

It's all about money folks. $5k per child with the chance for their child to win a $20,000 gold star each week? It's sad what people will let others do to their children for money.

Sick, sick, sick.

21. After watching the show I really don't understand why it is getting so much flack in the media. The "work" some of these kids are doing is (IMO) not really work at all. Some wash dishes and cook, but I remember doing all of that when I was a kid and that was because I had too. So as far as having to go to another country, if people would just watch it and see that its not as bad as people are trying to make it, then they would see that child labor laws are really no issue here at all.
