Celebrity Justice
Mel Gibson Behaving Bali

Maybe Jesus isn't the only one who can turn water into wine?!
Mel Gibson
DUI darling and self-professed King of Malibu, Mel Gibson, got his swerve on while partying at The Living Room bar in Bali last month. Passionfruit martini of the Anti-Christ! In August, a judge ruled that Mel's attendance at AA meetings were now voluntary. Dranks to that!

Reps for the sweaty, zoned-out 51-year-old "Tequila Sunrise" star could not be reached for comment.

63. it is really upsetting to see Mel Gibson looking like that in that nightclub. How can he make The Passion of the Christ with such conviction, and then turn around and act like this? He is not practicing what he preaches. That is such a bad example for all of our children......not to mention his 7 or 8 children! I don't know how his wife puts up with that!! I guess she needs his money.... I bet you anything they are both cheating on each other, and always have!! That's the way it works in Hollywood, and everyone knows that! Such ashame! Mel, I really hope you get your act together!! You are an alcoholic and religion can't change that UNLESS you want it to!! Grow up and be a man for once!!!!

64. so is he in a gay bar or what? at least he wouldn't need birth control.. apparently an unpleasant concept for his right-wing brand of Catholicism

65. Hate to break the news, but according to case law AA is a religion, and the last time I checked you couldn't impose religion on a person no matter what your motives (http://orange-papers.org/orange-spirrel.html#judges for more). I know judges still do it, but that doesn't make it any less unconsttutional.

66. Give it a rest people. The man is over 21, wasn't driving, didn't get into any fights, and caused no problems (trust me, TMZ would have told us if he did). I'm sure this site is full of tea tottlers who never do anything slightly embarassing.

67. "but according to case law AA is a religion,"

Your source is incorrect when it claims "by failing to hear the cases the supreme court makes this the law of the land". And it's wrong on a couple of different levels.

All laws belong to the states unless the U.S. Congress passes a federal law that supercedes state laws.

The ruling of a judge in SanFrancisco does not and can not affect a citizen in Peoria.

There is no federal precedent in a court case unless the U.S. Supreme court accepts and rules in a case.

Often times there are federal judges from different precincts who rule differently on similar issues. It's impossible to claim "law of the land" simply because the U.S. Supreme court doesn't take a case.

Finally, when the U.S. supreme court refuses to take a case, it is acknowledging that it's not an issue for federal adjudication and cedes decision to the state/local courts.

72. John P,

Seriously, have you been under a rock for the last 4 years? The references are to his Passion film, not to Christianity. Although the film breaches on a core teaching of Christianity, it is not to be held as sacred as the religion itself. If that hurts your sensibilities that much, might I suggest staying away from TMZ, as I'd hate to see your reaction to far more contraversial statements.

74. I have but two comments:
#1: You have actual no proof that Mel is drunk, other than he looks goofy in the photo.
#2: Lay off the religion bashing!
