Britney Ordered to Court -- Or Else

TMZ has learned L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon has ordered Britney and K-Fed to court at the next hearing, set for October 26.

We've learned on Monday, Commissioner Gordon said he would not order the parties to court, but made it clear that it would be a good idea for them to show. Sources say Britney's lawyer, Sorrell Trope, asked Britney to show but she wouldn't. Kevin showed up, along with his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan. It was the first appearance in court by either one. Britney spent some of her afternoon at a Shell gas station in the San Fernando Valley.

Britney's lawyer argued that the ruling on Monday was unfair and he asked to reinstate the 50/50 custody arrangement. The judge declined to do it.

The next hearings are set for October 26 and November 26. Britney and K-Fed must be there for the October 26 hearing.

137. Ever have the feeling that you are being followed or watched.. uhh well remember how creepy that feels. Now imagine living it everyday all day.. you get told your stupid or put down long enough you begin to believe it.. Kevin is a Jack@$$ that only wants money.. Everyday Britney should pay for my legal fees, britney shoud pay for my house... People need to "BUTT OUT"! She need support not critisim! I hope that she and kevin can work out there own parenting plann together. Maybe they both should go to parenting classes together, and both should get family therophy! TOGETHER

140. I don't believe that Britney really knew what she was getting into when she started having children. Parenthood is the hardest job in the world, even when two people are mature, in a committed relationship, and want children. She had two babies in rapid succession (which takes a toll on your body), and probably didn't plan to be a single parent. There's nothing glamorous about trying to raise children alone. K-Fed's no prince, and before anyone names him "Father of the Year," realize that his ex (Shar Jackson) does the majority of the parenting with his other two kids. Britney's going to have to decide if she truly wants to parent her kids, come to grips with any addictions she may or may not have, and try to learn and grow through the experiences she is forced to take by the court (rehab, alcohol/drug testing, parenting classes, etc). If she truly isn't ready to be a mom, end the custody battle and just work out visitation and child support. While women have babies, not all women are cut out to be mothers - just as any man can produce children, but it doesn't make him a father. Britney can come out of this in far better shape, but she has to stop running first. She's under a lot of pressure and is probably embarrassed. How many of us would want our warts and flaws splashed in the tablids? It will take a lot of courage to regaiin self control and face the situation. Good luck, Britney! There are some of us who are pulling for you.
