Britney Ordered to Court -- Or Else

TMZ has learned L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon has ordered Britney and K-Fed to court at the next hearing, set for October 26.

We've learned on Monday, Commissioner Gordon said he would not order the parties to court, but made it clear that it would be a good idea for them to show. Sources say Britney's lawyer, Sorrell Trope, asked Britney to show but she wouldn't. Kevin showed up, along with his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan. It was the first appearance in court by either one. Britney spent some of her afternoon at a Shell gas station in the San Fernando Valley.

Britney's lawyer argued that the ruling on Monday was unfair and he asked to reinstate the 50/50 custody arrangement. The judge declined to do it.

The next hearings are set for October 26 and November 26. Britney and K-Fed must be there for the October 26 hearing.

28. She's not showing up because she obviously doesn't care. Oh, well. That's what happens. Her choice. She's not only been given plenty of opportunities to get/keep her kids/reputation, she's forcibly pushed these opportunities away...all in the name of, "Whateva! Whateva! I do what I want!"

STOP ARGUING FOR HER: she's obviously perfectly content being a lazy slob. And back off of TMZ for pushing cameras in her face: she's made it perfectly clear that she goes out of her way for the attention. Wah wah wah.

29. I am shocked at her. What kind of parent skips a custody hearing? Watching the video of her from this afternoon is heartbreaking. This is a person who is really sick, she needs serious help. On a day that would be humiliating to most people, she is only concerned with giving a cutesy smile and flipping her (fake) hair for the cameras...has everyone forgotten that she shaved her head in an emotional breakdown and then attacked a car with an umbrella (among other things)? TMZ, please stop perpetuating her behavior and leave her alone. It's not right to exploit someone who is sick.

30. It looks as if she is holding her own court right there at the same time she should have been fighting for her kids. She knew the paps would be hot for her today and she made the most of it. She is either as dumb as you guys (press) make her out to be or she just doesn't give a damn. You know she actually looked better today than in quite a while, she wouldn't be the first Mom to walk away. Toss up...the kids loose either way. And who woulda thunk it....K-Fed is the good guy, things sure did change in one year!!!!
