Celebrity Justice
Wrestling Star Popped for DUI

Kurt AngleUPDATE: TMZ just received the following statement from Angle's attorney: "Kurt Angle maintains his innocence relative to the charges brought by the police in this matter. The improper arrest occurred in the middle of the afternoon after Mr. Angle showed no signs of intoxication. The police have no blood alcohol content and not firsthand knowledge of his operation of his vehicle. We believe the motivation for this arrest is based upon Kurt Angle's celebrity status and we are confident that we will prevail when the truth becomes evident."

Kurt Angle, the former WWE and current TNA wrestling star, was charged with DUI and careless driving after being pulled over on the afternoon of September 28.

Angle was arrested at his home in Moon Township, Penn. after a witness spotted a white Cadillac Escalade driving erratically after pulling out of a local bar. The registration of that vehicle led police to Angle's home, where cops say he admitted to driving the vehicle and that he had just left the bar in question.

Officers then say Angle showed "signs of intoxication," and they administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. Angle was then placed under arrest and taken to a local hospital where he refused to take a blood test.

No future hearing has been set.

Angle won an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling in 1996. Calls to Angle's reps were not immediately returned.

61. Angle's gonna win this case. The police can't prove operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence, even though he admitted to driving. They didn't witness the erratic driving and then stop him there-after. Their probable cause time line isn't "in line". We all know he was drinking and driving, but he's gonna get off. He could say he had numerous drinks in his home and not necessarily at the bar, just before the police arrived.

63. IT's the Moon cops you idiots! Don't you know who they are?? THey spend every single minute of their time trying to arrest people for NO REASON! In Moon you get a speeding ticket for going 36 in a 35 mrp zone- They drive around looking for trouble- they are the gestpo! they are not reactive, they are pro-active. MOON COPS ARE THE WORST COPS IN THE UNITED STATES!!!!

66. I don't think this charge is going to stick. The police can arrest a person of a crime without witnessing it if the crime is a felony. If Angle was arrested on a misdemeanor I don't think the D.A. will prosecute.

Either way, like everyone else is writing...What a dumbass celebrity for doing something like this anyway.

67. Some of the cops here in PA are WAY too eager to fill their DUI quotas.

I am sure most people who sit in judgement have done it in their lives after drinking .08 worth of alcohol. HYPOCRITES!

The pseudo-military type cops that ruin peoples lives with their quotas should go to Iraq and witness real crime!

They let the real criminals out of jail on furloughs for the weekends so that they can make room for the DUI offenders. ~~~Pathetic!

68. Kurt Angleis just another example of the problems that arrive when you give someone like him too much money. I wonder if they would have found illegal steriods, had he taken the blood test. Is that the reason that he refused it. With all the Deaths that have come out of the Wrestling Industry, you would think that these guys would have more sense.
This is just another permanent blemish on the World of Professional Wrestling.
Shame on you Kurt Angle!

69. I think people need to realize that, unless you have NEVER drank alcohol your WHOLE life, I think most all of us have probably been "impaired" and operating something maybe we should not have operated. With the way the world is today and all the laws and politics surrounding a DUI, really, nobody is safe. DUI's and the mentality around them has changed considerably over the years. Use to be cops would take the person home, tell them to get a good night's rest and sober up. We have no more DUI's now than we did back then. Problem now is MADD has gotten their money hungry hands in it and have lobbied to get laws changed and this and that. The OWN FOUNDER of MADD left it due to their political money hungry ways. MADD is now a multi million dollar organization. Do I have to spell it out any clearer? I realize that drinking and driving is dangerous, but if people would do a little research they would see that people driving while talking on the cell phone, the elderly, and teens are more of a hazard than "drunk" drivers. Get real people, we make mistakes and poor judgements at times. Alcohol greatly impairs our reasoning and thinking. If someone wants to get on a high horse and put people down and piss and moan, then maybe they should go after the lawmakers and politicians and industry's that supply and make money off of saling and distributing this supposed "LEGAL" DRUG!!! How many people you see getting in a wreck after having smoked marijuana?? A "ILLEGAL" DRUG!!! See anything wrong with all this??

70. So let me get this straight, someone called and claimed a car was driving erratically and gave the PD the tag number ok, however that person did not put Angle behind the wheel, nor did PD see him behind the wheel. All they know is that he was at the bar and that is his vehicle. Go ahead take h im to court! Your case is S*** and you won't win. Absolutely no eevidence!

73. Unfortunately for Kurt this is another inncident where although he may have not been drunk from alcohol, he has a very serious addiction to pain meds and potentially the substance ghb which could very well explain his eratic driving. I hope he gets through al these troubles and makes it full circle back to the guy who was an olympic champion.

75. Vince had something to do with this! It smacks of conspiracy!! On the eve of TNA's two hour debut? MacMahon either (a) bribed Angle to do this (which I don't think he would, don't ever recall reading anything like this before and he is an Olympic gold medal winner) or
(b) bribed someone in the company to go out with Angle and involve him in this. It just seems ODD this happened when TNA is going to two hours! Conspiracy theory!! WWE did it, don't know how they did it, but they did it.
