she almost seems manic in the way that she is always out shopping iand eating on the run-like she can't help herself manic/depressive somehow? axa bipolar...

an expert watching her behaviour might had some insight into helping her if it's a simple as diagnosing something like that

once diagnosed on on proper meds, huge difference

a friend of mine has a brother who after several years of university had massive behaviour changes and has since been diagnosed as schizophrenic
in his case it got a lot worse before it got a bit better -but he will always have problems-

things like this that may be beyond her control need to be considered too
woould be tragic if she were later to be found to actually have a mental ilness that could be helped and controlled

hoping someone has had her to a reputable doctor to really investigate possibilities

then the drug/alcohol would not be the source of the problem but maybe a way she is trying to cope with what's been happening to her-still doesn't make it right-but it would sure explain a lot
