Some of you folks know about HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, which *absolutely* restricts access to patient records subject to *heavy* fines by the USGovt for violations. I'm a hospital volunteer at the Info Desk and if *any* patient is flagged as Confidential I *must* say to visitors, "There is no person by that name in this hospital (period)," even if the inquirer is the patient's mother! The patient is in a black hole. The patient does not exist, as far as the law and, thus, the hospital is concerned. Clooney's hospital is now in big trouble with the Feds and will face possible loss of it's license to operate. If you want friends and relatives to visit you as a patient in a hospital, DO NOT let anyone, including yourself, put you on a CONFIDENTIAL list! This is the way it is!
