Garth Brooks Hits the Big Screen

For one brief minute in 1999, country music phenom Garth Brooks introduced the masses to his weird alt-rocker alter ego "Chris Gaines" -- RIP -- and thankfully, he was never heard from again! But it now it looks like Garth's got another multiple personality under his hat -- movie star?!

Brooks is taking a break from one of those self-imposed faux-retirements that musicians do, and signed on to do nine concerts this November in country music hotspot Kansas City, Missouri. While tix for all performances are already sold out (for reals!), Brooks has struck a deal to have one of the concerts simulcast to more than 300 movie theaters around the country. Cool beans, y'all!

Garth-ophiles will have to wait to find out when to rush to the theaters -- reps for the event have yet to announce a date.

49. Anyone that doesn't appreciate Garth Brooks has a problem..I am 74 years old and love him and wish I could have gotten tickets to see him at the new Sprint Center...I wish him every success..

54. The new Sprint Center's "shell" is completely made out of glass. We don't need the rednecks from the Ozarks tearing up our new multi-million dollar arena (not all of us are inbred, buck-toothed, Wal-Mart shopping Jeff Foxworthy fans). I guess it is a good thing Elton John is playing before the place is destroyed. Then again, WWE Smakdown is coming into the Glass Bowl before Garth is.

Maybe we should have taken Frank Gehry up on his design proposal. He could have designed the place to be coated with Teflon to make hillbilly puke cleanup easier. There will be a QuikTrip convenience store location stocked with Mountain Dew and Slim Jims directly inside the Translucent Oval of Horror after all.

56. I always wanted to see Garth perform. Never got the chance; or had the money., Am pretty ill, now.

He and his wife Trisha sure do seem like contented , happy folks.

60. Trish didn't not wreck a family! Trish is not a fat a##. She is a fine country lady. End of story.
You people don't care what you write. It is so sad. How can you bad mouth the biggest country western act in history. He has expanded the base of country beyond the honky tonk circuit. Garth deserves more respect. He made his purpose for retirement clear to stay home with his daughters. What so wrong with his decision?
