Orlando Bloom Issues a Statement

Orlando Bloom's rep issued the following statement to TMZ:

"Orlando Bloom, who was in a minor car collision late last night, is grateful that no one was seriously injured. Bloom called for help immediately following the incident. He spent last night at the hospital to be with his childhood friend who sustained a minor neck injury. He is thankful that emergency services arrived so quickly and that the ER staff at Cedars Sinai took such good care of his friend."

The rep did not say why Bloom tried to flee the scene.

46. I am so sickened by the lazinesss and ineptitude of the LAPD. I live in California and know that CA has very strict laws on driving while intoxicated. However, despite how Orlando looked, and that he hit a car after leaving a club with a car full of intoxicated people how could the cops not bother to take a breath or blood test!! He was even seen wasted at the club he was at before the accident! There are witnesses!!! Then, he tried to flee the scene (with his injured "friends" in the car) but was persuaded - by the paparazzi nonetheless - to stay or he could be charged with a hit & run. Why didn't the cops administer sobriety tests? Why didn't they follow up with the club Orlando & Co. were at earlier? Another example of the two justice systems in LA- one for regular people (Jail, fines, etc) and the other for celebrities. It sickens me. Oh, and everyone was up in arms about Britney not having a valid California license....does this non-US citizen have a valid license in California.... I highly doubt it. I had thought Orlando was a decent guy, but apparently not. Too bad the morals are so loose in L.A., that no one will care as long as he brings in money at the box office. I lived in LA briefly and couldn't take it - it is a hell hole and everyone is out for themselves (e.g., Orlando attempting to leave the scene, not worried the least about his friends in the car), and most only talk to you if they think they can get something from you. I'm glad I moved south....

47. I would like to think people do not assume, but then again I am proven right all the time. Orlando is a non-alcholic drinker and tries to remain that way and will on a social occasion like the GQ awards have a drink or to. And as for his supposed dates and relationships with Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Aniston, all are untrue. Miranda attended the same PA stunt for the Atelier Apartments is New York that Orlando did. They are only friends as they have budhism in common. Jennifer was at a wedding with him are only friends. I understand that it is hard for people to understand that celebs have friends of the opposite sex without making a mountain out of a mole hill.

48. People, please check the facts:

One; he was driving, the accident was caused by another vehicle swerving and cutting him off. Two; he was not drunk, he was trying to get away from the photographers. Three, he walked away to call someone and to get some peace and quiet. Have you ever been in a car accident? I have, and even a minor one is cause for feeling dazed and alarmed--particularly if people are hurt. Particularly if they are people you know--and particularly when the photos won't stop shooting afterward. It's asinine. Stop believing every fricking thing you see online. Ignorance makes you look foolish.

Go here: http://community.livejournal.com/orlando_news/53657.html and take a look at the articles and review the entire situation before crying Orlando's a drunk.

49. Well- I agree. He did come off as a jerk when he was leaving. But com'on- be real. Who wouldn't want to flee when you have a bunch of papparazzi chasing and hounding you constantly? Wouldn't you want to hide and wait till it blows over? Especially, if you feel guilty that you accidentally caused it? I doubt that when he walked a away, if you could call it that, he was aware of how badly injured anyone was. Have anyone of you tried driving while you had several cars chase you? Not to mentioned constant flashed blinding you while your driving? If there is anyone to blame, primarily, it should be the paparazzi.

50. I was involved in a car accident where a big-rig lost controls of his brakes and rear ended another big-rig causing a 8 vehicle pile-up. I remember almost being pushed off the bridge that easily stood above 200 feet high. I was less than a foot away from being shoved off the bridge. I remember hearing the deafening sound of metal crashing near my ear and wondering If I am going to die. After the incident, I didn't know what to think or how to react. I lost control of all my thoughts and I seem uncaring and blanked to everyone around me. I acknowledge the existence of everyone else but seem unbothered by their presence. I didn't even move to see if anyone else was hurt. So, you see each and all of us react differently to each situation. while EVERYONE else was crying, dazed, or active helping. I was off in LALA land without no point to return.
So, I do understand his reaction and I don't blame him.

51. Why is it that some of you people are just assuming that he was totally drunk? He certainly did not look or act drunk to me. He looked like he was trying to get away from all of the cameras so he could make some phone calls. He walked straight up to the officer when he arrived and shook his hand. That does not seem like something a drunk person who knows they have just been in an accident would do. Give me a break. He's a human just like the rest of us. Oh, except for the ilk who is bashing him for no reason other than they can remain anonymous and act like a bunch of creeps. I am quite sure he felt really bad about the whole thing and just wanted some privacy to take care of the situation. If it was his fault and he was drunk, of course he should be charged, but obviously that was not the case. We all know with the recent events of Paris and Nicole and all the other stars who get DUI's that they do get punished just like everyone else. So, why don't all you jealouse jerks out there just go away and leave him alone to deal with this situation just like you would be able to if it was you. Jerks!!!!!!!
