Feds: T.I. Tried to Buy Machine Guns, Silencers

10/13/2007 10:54 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) arrested rapper T.I. in Atlanta today on multiple weapons charges, after they say he had a bodyguard try to buy machine guns and silencers for him.

According to the Feds, T.I,, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was busted after they learned one of his bodyguards was allegedly trying to purchase machine guns for the musician. Authorities say the bodyguard admitted to purchasing about nine firearms for T.I. in the past and about 17 firearms for other people in the musician's posse on previous occasions. The bodyguard claims the rapper gave him cash to purchase the guns, because T.I., as a convicted felon, was not able to legally buy firearms. The bodyguard was arrested last week trying to buy several guns. After his arrest, the bodyguard agreed to cooperate with authorities -- that cooperation led to today's arrest.

the government can't bring down rap if they're aren't giving a window of opportunity. iDo what's right, needed, wanted, and exspected. carry and represent yourself, then there want be anything the can use as an example, whether right or wrong, then that window want be opened. don't do or say anything about whatever, if you don't it done to you. don't be hypocritical and contradicting. if his life style as some people say where a body guard is not enough protection, then you need to change your profession. you broke the law in the past that got you in that situation, so if you can't
stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. that's what is wrong with the world these days how so many people can takes one law that has one meaning, and interpret the laws and rules to suit you. Jf we want the laws pf the legal systems to try everone the same, you have to stop dissecting it when a african american gets into trouble, even when you know for a fact that what it is their doing is wrong on so many levels, but is willing and will condomed their actions, because someone of another rest did the same and they got away with it. we have to start somewhere. by the way i' a african american. stop talking and do something about it. there is evil everywhere, so their will always be someone of all races that want do the right things.

My Dearest Mr. The South,

The Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (sometimes referred to as the ATF), is ONE entity - they just have a long and involved name to explain who/what they represent. It was not "all those" agencies - it was one agency, the Department of Alcohol, (comma), Tobacco, (another comma), Firearms AND Explosives! One freakin agency - go school yourself brotha! your soundin' like a fool.

Ok # 9 the racial profiling is not necessary and # 25 Get real find a rock star that doesn't have crack or cocaine on them and then you can say something about someone else. I mean really what kind of drugs are you or maybe some of your friends are on. And also did anyone think that maybe the bodyguard was trying to save himself so he tried snitching on the person he was supposed to be protecting just so that he wouldn't get into any trouble. Get a clue jack asses.

It seems some of you have trouble understanding the term 'in possession' It not only means on your person, it also means in or on your property. There were guns in his house therefore he was in possession of those guns. There is also the matter of the loaded gun in the car he was riding in when he was arrested, that is a charge that can be applied to everyone in that car, not just him. He's looking at least two 10 year felonies maybe more depending on how the charges are written up, but lets just keep it at the two known ones.
Not counting the gun in the car charge he wouldn't be free to go where he wanted until 2028, assuming he wasn't sentenced until Jan. '08.
btw, there is no such thing as 'good time' or parole in the federal system, yer in for 10, you serve all 10.
