Gretchen WilsonCountry singer Gretchen Wilson behaved so badly on a recent flight to Los Angeles, American Airlines was forced to issue an in-flight citation and write up what the airline calls a "disturbance report." Redneck woman!

TMZ has learned that Wilson, who was traveling -- in coach!-- from Nashville to L.A. on Wednesday evening, became "belligerent, and verbally abusive" to staff when they asked her to put her dog back in its carrier case. Sources on the flight tell TMZ that a flight attendant attempted to discuss the situation in the back, but Gretchen responded with a pissed off "F**k you!"

Sources also tell us her group was drinking on board, and those privileges were also taken away. All jacked up indeed.

Guess the flight attendants were not here for the party.

A rep for Wilson was not immediately available for comment.

47. Why is everyone giving her a hard time? Lots of people act like fools once in their life, this is the first time I have heard of her being in the headlines for un-lady like behavior. I love Gretchen Wilson and think that she is real. You don't hear about her in the news doing drugs or being an unfit parent. She keeps her child out of the spotlight and pretty much keeps her private life private. So she drank on a plane, oh well. . . better then drinking and driving! By the way the "reckneck people" some of you are talking about are some of the most honest, hard working people in this country. I am PROUD to be a Redneck Woman!!!!

51. I am so sick of these celebirtys who think they are above the law and different rules apply to them. Look at the woman who was going to get help for her alcholism. she was arrested and then died. I guess if she had the fame and fortune she would have made her flight and still be alive. She is no better than anybody else and needs to obey the same laws we do. And the law officials that we pay through our tax dollars need to enforce these laws.

54. gvegas the sad part of it all is that she is "real." Poor behavior is unacceptable on an airline whether you're Gretchen Wilson or John Doe. When people break rules then more rules are put into place and have to be inforced. If she wanted to take her dog out of the carrier why not fly via private jet. Chances are she was alienated because she wasn't flying first class but whose fault is that?

Some people unfortunately have allergies to animal dander that they can't help, her behavior was obnoxious, rude and uncalled for. She should have been escorted off the plane. I'm sure her elders taught her better manners, and at this point in her life she's old enough to be using them.

55. You can have animals in an airplane. They just have to be inside an animal carrier. Food and drinks are served in the cabin and people have allergies-- that's why you aren't supposed to have your animal sitting in your lap or outside of the carrier.

It has always seemed inhumane to be-- to travel with an animal in a carrier but you see people do it all the time. Weird.

Anyhow, she is lucky that she didn't peeve off the flight crew enough to have security meet the plane.. She could have gotten arrested for that nonsense.

This is why alcohol and flying do NOT mix.. especially alcohol + celebrity + flying = Toxic.. (Britney Toxic)!

57. You can dress them up and still can't take them anywhere. She doesn't even clean up good. Always looks nasty. She should have been arrested. They arrested the two people on the flight from Arizona to North Carolina for making out. Why is the rules different for the stars? The authorities should have been waiting on the ground to lock her nasty ass up like they would have common citizen. Some things never change
