122. The mood in the USA is that the average American citizen does not want English to be this nation's second language. On the west coast, what does ESL stand for? It stands for "english second language." Who made English the second language? And, who is paying for those ESL classes?

If we want to learn Spanish or any of the many other languages, it needs to be a choice not forced on us. Pay for that skill out of your own pocket, don't force others to bear the burden. Don't make it a requirement for college graduation. Personally, I do not want to be bombarded with Spanish nor do I want to pay extra for instructions to be printed in Spanish whenever I buy products or go to an emergency room for medical treatment. If the media, the government agencies, and corporate America panders to us in Spanish - be fair and do the same for those who chose to learn the other languages by printing in the other languages too. I already am multi-lingual (English, Japanese, Italian, and Russian) and also, a native American so don't tell me to go back to Europe. I have never been a welfare recipient nor applied for student loans to acquire my education.

The point that I was making is that the former mexican president Fox is the one who has incensed anger in the USA by his encouraging his country persons to violate our laws. His successor is no better. The reward we get for cultural tolerance is more illegal aliens and the requirement that we learn Spanish. I have no complaint against Puerto Rico - an island in the central West Indies: a commonwealth associated with the U.S. However, I prefer Hawaii, a state of the United States comprising the N Pacific islands of Hawaii, Kahoolawe, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Niihau, and Oahu, since 1959. I learned their language and embraced their culture because they weren't dissing me to do so.

Most first-world nations express themselves in multiple languages and their brains haven't exploded. Surprise surprise, they are more ejumacated! 126. This story would have been more palatable if it had been reversed so that it appeared prominently in English. The second language link in Spanish could have prevented the anger on here. Let this serve as a clue to all those media marketing morons that people in the USA want English to be the First language considering where TMZ originates.

Let's face it one of the first to come to this country, did speak Spanish and thereafter, many more languages were and are still spoken. So what? 1) Menudo was a Puerto Rican boy band (NOT MEXICAN).

2) Puerto Rico is a US territory were the first language is SPANISH and the second is english.

3) If you learned OUR USA history (which apparently seems like some people need to go back to school) the USA invaded Puerto Rico in1898!!!!!!!!! Believe it or not we are part of the USA since 1898 and we are USA citizens too!!!

4) We didn't invaded you, you did!!! So don't be angry if we don't speak english as our first language!!!!!!!
