Celebrity Feuds
Ellen Breaks Down on Her Show

The usually upbeat Ellen DeGeneres was anything but on today's episode of her show -- stopping her opening monologue to give a passionate, tear-filled speech about her recent dog troubles.

After walking on to the usual applause, Ellen quieted the audience and explained that, "Today is a hard day for me ... I am not capable of coming out and pretending to be funny when things are going so terribly wrong right now."

Wiping tears from her eyes, Ellen went on to talk about her ongoing battle with a dog rescue group that took back a dog Ellen adopted after discovering the talk show hostess had given it to her hairdresser.

Tonight's TMZ TV has all the latest on the developing story. Watch today's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to see the rest of her passionate plea.

781. It amazes me those who discount emotional issues over a "dog". "So what, it's a dog!" I must say these people totally underestimate the meaning and value animals have on our lives. Dogs are companions of humans, and for the past several hundreds of thousands of years we've found comfort and love in them. The Ancient Egyptians held certain dogs and cats in high regard in their burials. Dogs have continually proved themselves heroes in tragedies to humans as well.

Those who look upon dogs and cats as mere objects without feeling or purpose other than to feed them like machines, have highly questionable psychological issues that need to be evaluated by a professional. First, they are overwhelmingly overruled by the majority of Americans who spend billions on their pets to care for them each year who provide love, and emotional support to their lives.

Perhaps if you do not value a dog, you should stay out of this issue all together, because I'll tell you none thing, I'd choose a small cute little dog over you if it was life or death. Which one has the most value? I'm sure others would do the same and associate these kind of monsters with the rapists, murderers and torturers in the world have are heartless bastards. We'd let you die, starve, and take the cute little puppy home. We would leave you to die in the streets with your feces while we take good care of our pets.

So, I'd suggest you get with the program and value our animals as much as we do, or find your ass out on the street one day for the animal you behave as on this forum.

782. One comment, Ellen is possibly premenopausal or it's that time of the month, give her a break. People also appreciate "real" people these days, as well as her honesty unlike the masquerade of politicians in this day and age.

783. I am disappointed to see how hateful many people are being. What this situation has to do with being gay or lesbin is completely beyond me. This is a situation that went badly for everyne: Ellen, the shelter, the family, and the dog. Each of these people had the best intentions. Ellen is known for being open and involved and because of this has supported and strenghened many causes, mostly to the benefit of humanity. To use this particular sad case as evidence she doesn't "put people first" is absurd. Further, the main thrust of her plea was that she wanted to make things right for not only the dog but the family as well. People are also forgetting that at the beginning of the show, before she shared her feelings, she said that she expected her comments to be edited out. She then went on to have a very funny and positive show. I am glad to see anyone in the public eye being genuine about their feelings amid what passes as worthy news and revelation these days. I hope that such sincerity will eventually help all beings to be better off.

785. This issue has nothing to do with being Gay or drama queens or animals before people.
Ellen didn't get upset about the dog, she got upset about a family, especially 2 children being hurt, and that is very much a person issue!
Rescue agencies do have their rules for the safety of the pets they place, but they over reacted in this case. They could have simply contacted the Veterinarian of Iggys new owners and looked around the home and seen for themselves how Iggy was doing with the family, but they didn't. The people who run that particular rescue oranization should be ashamed of themselves!

787. Ellen is so smart. Her ratings had flatten out, so she pulls this out. It worked brilliantly! Ratings for that episode spiked according to Nielsen, people will talk about this for a while. Take note business majors, Ellen knows how to play ball.

788. Ellen, being the mom of a beautiful gay son, the comments on here attacking gays are pethedic and very immature. This isn't about being gay! It has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Don't feel bad Ellen, you have a heart of gold. I know that you would have never given that dog to anyone who you thought would be a threat to the dog. I have heard a story like this before, and they are totally over reacting, probably due to the fact that you are a celebrity. Gee, you didn't kill the dog!!! Shame on you idiots who attack Ellen for being who she is, a beautiful human being. Ellen, don't be ashamed to cry, you are wonderful person who makes me happy and laugh everyday. You are beautiful!!!!!!

790. I admire the work that animal rescue groups do however, I believe they have gone too far on this one. This dog is in need of a loving and safe home and Ellen provided that. Put the dog back where it belongs, in the arms of girl that he was taken from, Ruby.

791. This is pathetic. The dog can find a new home. I have had many dogs and had to give some away and it isnt hard for them to readjust. 2 weeks? That isnt long. There are thousands of dogs the kids could get and be happy. Also the rule the adoption agency has isnt out to be cruel, its to protect the dog from getting into the wrong hands. That being said i think the rule not to let families with children under 14 adopt dogs isnt a very good rule. But if you dont like it adopt from a different agency dont cry on national televison like the world is freaking ending. Yes i know that exceptions are always made to contracts, but if they gave the dog back everyone would know about this exception and wonder why this family got the exception and not them. Just be reasonable and understand what im saying. Its not really that big of a deal. Oh yea i almost forgot, millions of babies are being murdered each year by abortion, i wonder how many babies would say thats in THEIR best interest if they could talk. Im sure they would understand. What i dont understand is why animals are being valued more that humans.

792. hey michael "the openly gay professional, dog lover and human being with a heart!"

1) Adam was made in God's image and likeness meaning he was perfect and holy. Obviously we are no longer perfectly in God's image as there was a little "event" shall i say in the garden of eden.
2)Women was made in the image and glory of man, not God. Look it up.
3)I know gay people and this makes me no less sympathetic or "ignorant" as you tried to throw out there.
4)I have pets that i "love" and that "love" me back. But they had the dog for 2 weeks give me a break they can find another dog to get attached to.
5)I show emotion, but give me a break -again- its a DOG.
6)Millions of babies are being murdered each year against their will. I dont think if they could talk they would say abortion is in THEIR best interest.
7)Homosexuality is not uncontrollable, or just "how you were made". And also please look more into the Bible as you tried to quote it. I hope you find the truth.

793. ELLEN DEGENERET NEEDS TO GET A LIFE!!!! WHY IS THIS NEWS???

Posted at 1:05AM on Oct 18th 2007 by DETEST ELLEN

794. There are too many dogs in this world. Let the shelters kill the animals if a home cannot be found. No one should ever allow their dog to roam off leash, sadly too many people disregard the welfare of other people in pursuit of doggie nirvana. The dog loving public is absolutely nuts.

795. Mutts had EVERY RIGHT to exercise there option on taking the dog back .. These 'celebrities" think that just because they have Fame and Money that they can do whatever the Hell they want ..

I don't have any Feelings toward Ellen and I never have, God will have his say in the end and I personally will enjoy His show.
