Celebrity Feuds
PETA Talks Dogs

TMZ contacted PETA to get their expert opinion on the whole Ellen vs. Mutts and Moms ordeal, and the animal protection group is standing by Ellen!
Ellen n Iggy
PETA said, "At a time when so many people in Hollywood, like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, are making impetuous "pet" purchases, PETA commends Ellen for adopting a homeless animal from a shelter rather than buying a dog. Every animal purchased from a pet store is a virtual death sentence for an animal desperately waiting in a shelter for a home."

Although PETA doesn't fully side with Ellen, they do think that Ellen had only the best of intentions. "We know that Ellen was trying to do the right thing in finding the dog a new home. She just missed a step in neglecting to contact the agency first. We hope that if the new home she arranged turns out to be as good as she thought, the agency will allow the family to take the dog back. PETA does think that Mutts & Moms' policies of doing home checks and not allowing people to transfer animals to others are good rules that protect the animals. Ellen was just trying to do the right thing -- she is a huge animal lover -- and surely has learned from this experience." Even for a dog, that's a mouthful!

92. I thinks since ellen paid all that money on making izzy healty even if didn't read the contract she should be able to give the dog to anyone she wants, as long as it's a loving home. You know she would not give to anyone who won't take care of it right. You know when you get so wrap up in getting a new pet you don't thinks about reading the small print. Besides they should be thankful she gave it to someone who loves the dog, for there are so many people who get animals then don't take care of them or abuse. I think they should return the dog, so what if they are teenager. They are old enough to take care of them. Judy Fenton, Portland, Oregon

94. TMZ should investigate how many dogs Ellen has given up before bagging on the rescue. PETA has a vested interest in keeping Ellen saintly as does the ASPCA. She makes them money and gets the publicity they desire.

95. Give the darn dog back to the family for god's sake!! Do you know how hard it is to find a loving family to adopt homeless pets? What is the big deal--just because the policy is no kids under 14?? One of the kids is 12. I think Mutts & Moms are just digging their heels in to make a point--they are in control! C'mon and bend a little bit and let the dog & the kids have a happy life together.

96. For the PETA comment, though it doesn't apply I feel forced to point out the obvious: If you would know anything about PETA you would know that they support medical research just not on animals. It has been proven time and time again that research on animals are many times inconclusive and has caused human death's because animals and human's do not react the same to medications. So they are torturing and mutilating animals for NOTHING! Unlike crude, archaic animal tests, non-animal methods usually take less time to complete, cost only a fraction of what the animal experiments they replace cost, and are not plagued with species differences that make extrapolation difficult or impossible. Effective, affordable, and humane research methods include studies of human populations, volunteers, and patients, as well as sophisticated in vitro, genomic, and computer-modeling techniques. Company's are starting to use human tissue, so Animal research is not longer necessary, but many company's are hanging onto it. Animals are not ours to Eat, Wear, Experiment On, Use for Entertainment, or to Abuse!!!

98. First of all, @#1:

Shut the hell up, moron. You're NOT FUNNY, so quit trying to be.

Now, I'm surprised PeTA is actually doing something right for once. I almost wanna say, "Go, PeTA," but even with them doing the right thing here, I just can't. But, good for them... for now, anyway. At least, until they screw up and do something stupid AGAIN, about 15 minutes from now.

101. TO ALL ELLEN BASHERS!

This is to all those that resorted to 1st grade name (Lezbo- that wuz your best sho?t!)calling AND this is a reminder of those who in Ellen's name, without her consent, resorted to threats of violence.

I want you to think about this: When the woman from Moms & Mutts called Ellen to inquire about the dog, she was HONEST. The woman however, responded to Ellen's honesty with deceit. Period. The End Ellen's frankness about the dog should have been a HUGE red flag for the woman that Ellen was not aware of the infamous clause. Had she SIMPLY said- "Ellen, you know that violates the contract, right?" might have given Ellen a CHANCE to explain and work it out like adults. But, no, she chose to lie to Ellen, to the new owners and then so callously hold the dog away from the children in stead of waiting to go in with the police. I think that was pretty cold, but in NO WAY deserving of a death threat!

If ANY of you that chose to spew hate, if you had actually ever stopped to learn all that Ellen has done, for people like us, the non famous people. Case in point: Ellen saw a young man on you tube who could leap over a car and she love it. So, they tracked the young man down and invites him to be on her show. He was great- they brought a car onstage and he jumped over it, then later jumped over 5 or 6 cars all in a row! He later told Ellen that his dream was to be in a Nike commercial. SO, Ellen calls the CEO of Nike and she surprised him today with an appearance at the opening of a new NIke store, $5000 shopping spree at Nike and a spot in the new spot for NIke.com! She made a dream come true for regular guy like us. He's not her first either- not by a long shot.

So, yea, Ellen's a real bitch, hugh?

102. OK....Ellen good for adopting dog......but....and yes, there is a but.....there were conditions to this adoption....I think if Ellen had been a bit more responsible & maybe contacted the group & asked first...this would've all ended differently.....it smells somewhat of another celeb thinking that rules don't apply to them...and all the idiots out there punishing Mutts & Moms...GET A GRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think people forget that this group is a RESCUE group....and have conditions & rules meant to protect these animals.....and people....even celebs..need to realize this......and while it's a painful lesson....these kids unfortunately have learned it....I do think that it could've been solved in a better way......Say, an apology from Ellen for not sticking to the rules & the group being kind enough to check out the family, and giving the kids the dog.....this is all much stupider than it needs to be....this is Ellen guys, not Rosie!

103. And I agree that lesbian bashing is just a kindergarten way to retaliate......it doens't matter what her sexual preference is...this is about the dog ,people!

104. Ellen made a mistake, which she admits, but it was made with the best intentions for the dog and the new family in mind. The dog was taken away. Mutts and Moms made a mistake, which I haven't heard them admit, and we don't know if it was accidental or deliberate--they did not remove the chip or change the chip to Ellen's home address. The dog should be taken away from them. I would never go to them for a rescue pet. They aren't trustworthy, but they are cruel.
And to the Peta haters, good grief. This is America. You can say and support any person or cause you want. Rescuing and loving animals, whether Ellen or even Mutts and Moms does it, is much more productive than hating Peta.
