Ellen Cancels Taping

Ellen DeGeneresEllen DeGeneres has canceled the taping of her show today.

This comes days after an emotional week for Ellen, who broke down in tears on Tuesday's show, as she recalled how Iggy the dog was ripped away from her hairstylist's home by a rescue organization.

The show issued this statement: "Ellen is taking a long weekend and will be back with a new show on Tuesday."

We're told that Ellen's producers asked country crooner Keith Urban -- who was previously scheduled to appear on the show -- to perform for audience members who had already arrived for the taping, not knowing it was canceled.

46. To #23. It was ellen's staff that threatened the shelter with destroyning them in the media...not the other way around. I LOVE ellen but if she really loved animals...why would she threaten to take down an entire shelter because she didn't get her way with one dog. The shelter also has a strict policy on adopting pets out to families with young children. If they bend the rules this time...they would be discriminating against all previous and future clients that are forced to follow the rules.

47. Oh, for goodness sake! This BS is SO out of hand. Similar things and much, much worse happen every single day. oes she know we have Americans getting killed in Iraq every day?!?
I don't buy that Iggy, the doggy adoption gone wrong is really the only thing wrong with her.
Mental, hormonal....whatever, she should get a freakin' grip on life.

48. I think Ellen was just looking out for Iggy. All she wanted to do was give it a good home instead of putting it back in a cage. She had a melt down everyone does sooner or later if you don't you don't have a heart her was done on t.v.The only thing different is that people like us is not.

49. I love the rightous rescue people who see no fault in M&M breaking the law and breaking their own rules and regulations. Not a problem, the more you post, the more Ellen will be forced to do something about it in order to respond. M&M needs to give the dog she stole back to its rightful owner. If M&M wants the dog, she needs to go through the right channels. Perhaps M&M should be more concerned about a private citizen taking action based upon her strong arm tactics, then Ellen who simply sought to do the right thing for all involved. On Monday, I will contact the State's Attorney General's office Public Inquiry Unit to lodge a complaint

52. I am sure if Ellen took the time to buy the family a new little puppy (and she can afford it) the first one will be forgotten by the family.

53. I heard a threatening phone call to the rescue org. from Ellen's staff on TV, saying there would be lots of bad publicity if they didn't return the dog! People don't like to be pushed around, if asked politely to return the dog, there may have been a better result!! Ms. Flounder

54. Are you kidding?!!
She gave a dog away that she brought home just a month earlier because it didn't get along with her cats. The dog cannot stay where she placed it after all.
This is why she is crying on TV and now cancelling her show?? It would make a little sense if a pet she'd owned for many years died. Even then, carrying on national television all week just looks crazy and very unprofessional when you are the host of the show!!
Am I missing something about this story???

55. And now we know why. Not only did Ellen adopt and return a dog in 2003, she did it JUST BEFORE ADOPTING IGGY.

"Iggy’s odyssey began roughly a month ago, when DeGeneres spotted a 2-year-old on petfinder.com offered by Mutts and Moms, according to Kelly Bush, DeGeneres’ publicist.

The talk show host and de Rossi went to Paw Boutique in Pasadena to adopt that dog, and then spotted Iggy.

They adopted the older dog, who did not get along with their three cats. They returned that dog; later, de Rossi went back and adopted Iggy, signing a contract. But Iggy had no better luck with the cats, despite the efforts of a private trainer, so the couple parted with Iggy, giving the dog to Marks, her hairstylist and friend."

WHAT A FRAUD ELLEN IS! All of the sobbing and boo hooing and making the rescue organization the evil entity.

SHAMEFUL

56. Jeezus... you people are hateful. Ellen is probably the only DECENT celebrity out there. She made a mistake and is owning up to it and if the adoption agency TRULY cared about the welfare of the dog, they would let him stay with the loving family instead of yanking him out.

It's ridiculous.

57. Why did this get so out of hand? If the agency didn't investigate Ellen's home why was it a decision breaker for the hairdresser's home? Why can't people sit down and work these things out? The shelter could have made a point of investigating the home, they could have billed Ellen for the additional work. It just makes sense to mediate these things.

58. Obiviously the people that are saying that "Ellen needs a life" and "it's just a dog" OBVIOUSLY are not dog owners!! You people should get the life!!!
