Ellen's Last Words on Iggy -- Stop the Violence!

After pleading over the airwaves for Iggy the Dog for the past few days, Ellen DeGeneres is giving her final statement about the situation.

After her usual dance onto the set of her talk show, a somber DeGeneres told the audience, "I think this is the last time I'm talking about this." In the episode, airing today, Ellen goes on to say how appreciative she is for all the letters and e-mails she's received, but warns her supporters not to resort to violence to make their point.

The only way she'd bring up Iggy again, she says, is if she's "lucky enough to say one day to you, Iggy has returned ... we'll have Iggy on the show to show you if that happens."

200. Hey TMZ - Ask Ellen what she did with Pig. Remember Pig, the dog she had on the show and is on her greeting cards. Yep, that one.

Oh that's right TMZ, you are owned by the same company that owns Ellen so you will only spin her side of the story.

183. #178 Donald you don't seem to have all the facts! I'm tired of repeating that this "rescue group" is NOT real! They are a store front pet shop pretending to be a rescue! Even the CEO of the ASCPA is now siding with Ellen!!!!!!!!!!!! The group is wrong & I'm tired of witing it over & over only to have people come here saying things like I never posted any message here!

1. There was NO inspectionof the home something all rescue groups do prior to a adoption.
2. There was NO application filled out to adopt the puppy. Again something ALL rescues do!
3 the puppy was not EVER evaluated to see what the personality traits are so it could be placed in a home that was suited for the puppy if this HAD been done they would have KNOWN it didn't like CATS.
4. This was not the first puppy that Ellen & her girlfriend got from this group. The first puppy didn't get along with the cats either & that dog was brought back & then they got Iggy. So KNOING this couple already had a problem with a dog not getting along with their cats they sent anothe rdog to their house that didn't get along with cats?! It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the RESCE group to KNOW their ANIMALS & do inspections to place them in a home suitable for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is their JOB & yea a volunteer one but HEY if it's not right for them they SHOULD NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
5. Last but not LEAST they let this dog go to it's adoption home still an INTACT DOG!!!!!!!!!! Rescue would not EVER NEVER DO this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This so called "rescue" is in reality a Store front pet shop! And on top of that they're also a pet shop that abuses the people who are looking for a beloved FAMILY member! to many people just like a KID! The last report on TV was of *ANOTHER adopter who got a dog from this group who went on vacation & this SAME woman came in & took him from the doggies sitter because the woman didn't like who the adoptive mom got to sit for her while she was away!!!!!!!!!!!! You cannot just come in & take someone's baby on a whim! And reputable rescues *protect* their animals they do not set out to emotionally destroy people without regard!

but that is all I'm saying here because again I've explained this & the very next post will be someone making the STUPID statement "it was a contract & she broke it" . The rescue group is a PET SHOP!!!!!!!!!!! That's why they pulled their web site! They couldn't let the real dog rescue people start to really look because they'd see right through them *just like me*.

now from an article from fox that quotes ceo of ASCPA

"Said ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres, "Ms. DeGeneres' love and concern for animals has become practically iconic. As such, we have the utmost respect for her actions in trying to provide loving homes for animals in need-she sets a great example for not just other celebrities, but the entire American public."

"We would encourage Mutts & Moms to re-visit their approach to this situation and look forward to a positive outcome that reinforces the importance of pets in our society and the human-animal bond."

184. #200 Tuberose what happens when you rescue a dog? you vet it, clean it up & train it & you foster it as you GET TO KNOW it. You train it so it's as well behaved as possible & then you *PLACE IT*.

How many foster homes keep a dog they get? Just because she's named a dog & called it her "pet" doesn't mean she wasn't going to rehome it once it wasin helathy condition & ready for a forever home. Isn't that what rescues do?????????? Oh that's right not all rescues are able to be emotionally intelligent enough to *let go of it's dogs*.

185. Why does it matter if it's a pet shop or a rescue? Is one preferable over the other? Seriously. What is the difference?

186. According to shock jock Howard Stern...who's girlfriend, BTW, is a member of the animal rescue community, Ellen, according to his sources, may have adopted and returned up to 9 dogs in recent years. Stern, an animal rights advocate himself...helped his girlfriend Beth rescue many unwanted animals in New Orleans, in the days, weeks and months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area--so he has some major credentials in regard to assisting in the rescue of animals, and knows from when is speaking, hence the reason why he has weighed in on the Ellen issue.

Further, Inside Edition ran photos of Ellen and her girlfriend--pictured on separate occasions with at least 3 dogs...and they questioned whether Ellen and her lover still have possession of these dogs. Also, if I recall correctly, The New York Post has also been investigating Ellen with similar disturbing results!!!

Making matters worse...it turns out that Ellen and her girlfriend adopted a dog from the animal adoption agency which they are now battling with, just weeks before Iggy...and quickly returned him claiming that he did not get along with their cats. Immediately, the couple then adopted Iggy from the same agency...but after a month, they decided that their cats weren't getting along with Iggy either and quickly got rid of him too.

With that stunning information being the case, Ellen is clearly a problematic animal owner and should not be allowed to adopt an animal, especially dogs, by anyone...at anytime. This, appears to be a repeated, and abusive behavior by the talk show host and her live-in lover...one that needs to be brought to a speedy end!!! Shame on these two selfish and immature people!!! They are abusing the system and traumatizing already traumatized animals whom were rescued from horrible and abusive owners to begin with--now they have been repeatedly uprooted by Ellen and her girlfriend like disposible toothbrushes!!! These animals have become nothing more than throw away toys to them--that's all!!!

Now the real truth is coming out, with more to follow!!! Shame on you Ellen!!! No wonder why you cancelled your Friday show, so you can hide from the press!!!

187. Disgusted: Many of our members do list their requirements on their pets' profile pages, or at the very least on their Petfinder homepage. But you're right, a quick trip to a municipal shelter will make your adoption process faster, and that option is always available.

Jezz: The advantages of adoption to the animal are obvious: Millions of pets are killed each year for lack of homes, so by adopting you are literally saving a life. (Even if you adopt from a no-kill organization, you're opening up a space for that group to pull another pet from a shelter where it might be euthanized.)

As for the advantages to the adopter -- aside from knowing that you've saved a life, you are spending less money; if you adopt a mixed-breed, it may be less predisposed to health problems than a purebred; if you adopt an adult pet, you bypass the rambunctious puppy/kitten stage and know exactly what your pet's personality is.

I won't go into the evils of puppy mills here -- that information is pretty easy to find online -- and plenty of people have had wonderful experiences getting their pets from reputable breeders. But for me, seeing my pets' happy faces, and knowing that I've given them safe, loving homes when they were facing possible death, is all the advantage I need.

189. Those of you interested in this situation might want to read the emails between the two parties as posted on TheSmokingGun website.

I think the rescue woman sounded totally reasonable. She did give the offer to the Marks to come in and go through the process to adopt the dog.

I feel this whole thing has been very unfair in the portrayal of the rescue organization. I hope their group can recover and continue doing the good they do.
