Michael Douglas' Son to Stand Trial on Drug Charges

The son of Michael Douglas has been ordered to stand trial on cocaine possession charges.

Cameron Douglas has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle. Charges were filed against 28-year-old Cameron Douglas and his friend, 30-year-old Christopher Lane.

At a pretrial hearing, charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance were added for Douglas, based on the testimony of a Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputy.

The charges stem from their arrest on July 22, when police found Douglas and Lane in a car near a Santa Barbara, Calif. motel -- and found a syringe on the floorboard with liquid cocaine in it. According to the arresting officer, Lane told him the syringe was his.

Both men will be back in court for an arraignment on November 16.

Cameron Douglas appeared with his father and grandfather, Kirk Douglas, in the 2003 film "It Runs in the Family."

16. Very sad. I grew up and still live in SB near them. He was VERY troubled kid. It was legendary how unhappy he was, and obviously still is.

There were rumors of his addiction in grade school and his parents had a horrible, knock down, drag out divorce, which can't have helped

It is easy to say he had more opportunity to do something with his life, but money doesn't mean happiness and it can cause so many more problems because if affords you both more chances to succeed and WAY more chances to screw up.

19. Sheesh,
I remember this kid while working on WonderBoys in Pittsburgh. Cameron was given a job in the camera department as a camera P.a. to assist with the video assist monitor setup to keep him out of trouble. Well, I remember him dumping 2 panavision encased monitors on the ground trashing them shortly after he started the job!...needless to say they moved him to other non destructive tasks.
Ironically he was paling around with another actor from that film who had recently had his rounds with trouble...Robert Downey Jr. The two of them were rumoured to have partied hard in Pittsburgh. Too sad.

22. If I remember right, Michael Douglas starred in a movie about a drug addicted daughter. Crash, maybe? Can't remember the name, but he's not playing the part this time, he's living it.

26. Not a big surprise. Probably due to an indulgent childhood caused by an absentee father who felt guilty. Go to rehab dude and go to counsling wth your Dad. All your troubles will go away if you fix that which has caused your woe.
