Copperfield Reportedly Investigated for Rape

FOX News Channel is reporting that a Seattle woman is alleging magician David Copperfield raped her.

The woman told Seattle police the magician raped her while she was in the Bahamas in July. Because the alleged incident happened abroad and the woman did not report the incident until she returned to the United States, Seattle authorities turned the case over to the FBI. We're told that no rape kit was done on the alleged victim in the Bahamas, which could make prosecution difficult.

As we reported yesterday, FBI agents "stormed the warehouse," and seized a computer hard drive, a digital camera system and nearly $2 million in cash.

David Chesnoff, Copperfield's lawyer, told TMZ, "We understand there is an investigation, we are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation."

31. Wow!! I love David Copperfield, I can't belive he's 51, so good looking.

This I don't believe this for one second. Just like with Kobe, good looking million has a one night stand with some girl thinking she'll be his wife and have a wonderful life with everything they could ever want, when they don't call you back they call it rape.

32. If he is guilty, I say go get him. But just keep in mind--DUKE UNIVERSITY! Only in America are you "guilty until proven innocent." It is a sign of the times when a woman can claim rape on only her word, the police will arrest you or barge into your home, or both and take away your life as you know it. Why didn't she report it? Why didn't she get the "rape kit" done for proof. Where is her polygraph test? If she took one, did she pass it? No this isn't like the case of that creep who raped the three year old that they just captured. He was on video doing this. Our civil liberties are slowly being taken away folks. This is only the first to come.

35. Ewwww I don't think he's good looking - kind of a creepy small guy, but to each his own.
Hope it's just some money-seeking chick and things get settled asap.

36. Please...the guy dates models as a second job. Who suddenly becomes a rapist at 45 or whatever age he is? Not buying it.

37. He did not marry a soopermodel.....Claudia Schiffer got wise to the guy several years after they got engaged, and ended up marrying someone else...has kids with him, too.

Objects in the mirrors may seem larger than they really are

39. Why is it she waited until there is no physical evidence to report the alledged rape? And, why did she wait until she got back to the US instead of reporting it in the Bahamas where she claims it happened? I don't believe her story. She's damaged his reputation and left him with no way to prove his innocence. If he raped her, she should have immediately had a rape kit done. She has to know she can sue for damages in a civil case. Maybe that's why she didn't call the police because nothing happened and now she wants to sue for money knowing the burden of proof in a civil case is lower.

40. Seizing $2 Million from a warehouse in the USA relates to an alleged overseas rape because......?

41. My first question would be why didn't she report it in the Bahamas? That sounds fishy. Raiding a warehouse for an alleged rape that supposedly took place in the Bahamas is just as fishy. I've never heard a bad thing about this guy, so to hear this sounds fishy, too. BUT, I'll wait and see how it unfolds before I draw any conclusions.

42. I've met him and he is an arrogant jackass. He had dated female models long before Claudia. I kind of believe this because he seemed to me to be a power & control freak, maybe because his sexuality is always in question. Oh, and he is as hairy as a monkey.

WOW! Your comment is ill-informed and ignorant. You sound so bitter. It's sad. Unless you are projecting (it's something that you have experienced first hand through your husband or boyfriend), I wouldn't be so quick to judge this woman.

It takes a great deal of courage to come forward and accuse someone of such a hideous crime. Especially someone in the public spotlight, knowing they have a lot of money and can afford a high-profile defense attorney.

Many women do not report it for fear of reprisals and ugly comments like yours. It's bad enough to have the courage to speak up, but then to get slammed by another woman...you should be ashamed of yourself.
