Oprah African School Worker Suspended

Oprah A dorm matron at Oprah's school for disadvantaged girls in South Africa has been suspended amidst allegations of serious misconduct, the AP is reporting. Winfrey released a statement regarding the issue, saying, "Nothing is more serious or devastating to me than an allegation of misconduct by an adult against any girl at the academy."

CEO John Samuel said on Friday that an internal inquiry had been initiated ''based on one serious claim of misconduct involving a dormitory parent.'' The accused is no longer on campus and details of the incident were not disclosed.

Police said they had been informed of the allegation, but weren't investigating at this stage.

47. I am amazed at the level of hate thet is directed at Oprah at this time. This woman has done nothing but try and help girls who would otherwise not be in a good position. Something has gone wrong, granted, but Oprah has, at the first opportunity admitted it and has done everything to sort the problem. As she says herself, "the buck stops with me" so she is not running away from it, far from it. The way she has hanhled this sad and painful situation has filled me with nothing but respect for her. It's not usually the mistake that buries people, it is the cover up. No way has Oprah tried to cover this up, indeed it seems that she was instrumental in seeking the truth.
Oprah, I still admire and respect you, please forgive the hateful comments, as the good Lord says "they know not what they do" Stay strong and this too shall pass. Anne in Ireland.
