Malibu Castle Was About to Be Sold!

Malibu Castle, which perished in today's fire, was actually in Escrow and set to have the final walk-through on Wednesday.

The deal was expected to close this Friday, and while the final selling price can't be confirmed, it had an asking price of $17 million.

The home is owned by socialite Lilly Lawrence, who was not home at the time of the blaze.

16. It was just sold, so no I don't think anyone set it on purpose for insurance. The final walk through of the castle was set for wed I think.
Don't know if the dotted lines were all signed though. Sure sucks for the new owners if they were.
Also many couples got married there, that would be sad too.
If they are still married that is.

I heard on a new cast that all the Elvis Memorabilia was destroyed in the castle, most likely some great art work also. Shame if true, that there was not enough time to get it out.

Prayers to you in Malibu. Packed up and ran from a few fires here too, not fun.

19. Visited the website. Looked pretty gaudy to me. Neighbors are probably pleased that nobody was hurt, but also that the horrendous structure is finally gone.

21. What a shame. It was a beautiful structure. The castle looks like it was masonry structure, yet it looks like nothing is left standing.

23. does anyone ask how she got to all this money? Her father was the oil Minister in Iran under Shah for a few years before he left Iran in 1978 with his wife and two daughters. Do you really think her father earned his wealth?

24. Couple of things about the " castle ". If it had been built out of REAL STONE like a REAL CASTLE...it would not have burned to the ground.

The Malibu Castle was an eyesore. It looked like a tacky miniature golf course perched on a hill. The only thing missing was an equally tacky windmill at the front gate.

It reeked of cheesy mid-west trailer trash that came into money.

Good riddance it is gone from the horizon.

I'm certain the land will now be worth far more because it will be so much easier to find a buyer for the land without that albatross of a house sitting there ruining that lovely view.

The owner is a nice lady and is going to benefit nicely from this deal. Her insurance will be covering her loss, and she can now sell her property for as much / if NOT MORE now that it will be easier for a new owner to get a NICE California coast home approved by the zoning Nazis in Malibu.

25. Wow talk about heartless, vile people. Despite thinking the castle was gaudy it was actually quite brilliant and a welcoming vista for those entering Malibu...but then again someone with comments that dim wouldn't have money to actually travel to a ritzy place like malibu now would they...you stupid idiot.

27. I'm a big Harvey Levin fan (if you can believe it) but I feel that the obnoxious amount of misspellings and factual inaccuracies sort of take away from the TMZ experience.
