Kid Rock Rockin' Someone Else's Tune?

kid rock and maurice foremanTMZ has learned a man named Maurice Foreman, straight from the hills of Kentucky, claims it's no coincidence that his song "Slow Death" is similar to Kid Rock's hit "So Hott" -- and he's suit filin' mad!

Foreman sought Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden's help in finding legal representation, claiming that he has the copyright to his song written in 1997. Foreman claims that Rock sings "so hot" three times, just like he sang "slow death," and says that the lead guitar notes are identical.

Unfortunately, Maurice tells Hayden, he's "a poor guy who works in a factory so I don't have a lot of money," which has made it hard for him to find a lawyer, but if he does have a case, thar's money in them thar hills!

TMZ called Rock's reps for comment, but haven't yet heard back.

Does he have a case? Listen to both tunes and vote!

46. Every one samples music these days.

If you'll read the liner notes in the CD, Kid Rock gives full credit to Warren Zevon for Werewolves of London and to Lynyrd Skynryd for Sweet Home Alabama in his song All Summer Long.

He gave Mettalica full credit in the liner notes of History of Rock for the music to the song American Bad Ass.

He credited Bad Company for his remake of Feel like Making Love.

He's never performed Fat Bottom Girls without crediting Queen.

Give him a break!!! At what's his son got to do with anything. He trying to let him grow up as normally as possible given the public llifestyle his father leads.

It's a free world. If you don't like his music, don't listen or change your radio dial.

47. So Hott and slow death both follow a pretty typical song writing style.. I mean there has been hundreds of songs where the chorus is the title (line of lyric) title etc... I mean could chuck berry sue basically everyone in the 60's for stealing his riffs? This type of thing has been done hundreds of times in rock and roll...
even if Kid stole Slow death which I highly doubt.. sorry dude, he did it better, got it copyrighted and beat you to the punch.. as much as that sucks it is the nature of the buisness

I should know.. Metallica ripped off 32 of my songs.. Bastards (im just kidding folks)

48. Kid Rock gives credit were credit is do. Even for the small things, which to me is the most important. just pick up an album and read the thanks he gives out. He has always been straight up! Stay that way Kid. I believe these songs are completely different and it sucks that the kid has to waste a dime and his time, not-to-mention have to defend his credibility as a songwriter on this BS....
The Kid has busted his butt to put this album out to the fans and is continuously striving to reach different levels of personal achievement, Even people who are not fans have to give him props and take there hats off as a musician, songwriter, performer, producer, Dad and the heart and passion to stay the course over the years.

Cheers Kid...You got my Vote and I would be honored to buy you a beer!

50. Ok, as far as I can tell the chord progression is the same but the actuall riff is slightly different. But why do any of US actually care. It's not our song or our money that will(or won't) be paid.

51. I listened to both songs, music is the same(guitar riffs) and all. Clearly one is recorded professionally and the other is not, however... a "rose is a rose" no matter where you grow it!

52.
One thing that stands out is the main guitar riff is exactly the same. Then the way the words are sung three times. It's a close call, if the main guitar riff was different, I would say no. But since it's the same he definitely has a case. But truth is coincidences happen.

53. Hey! I know this guy maurice and he is very talented a good songwritter and great guitar player, maybe kid rock should contact maurice and see what he's got to contribute to the bussiness? And maurice likes to party just as much as the next guy.

56. Well, from a guitar player's point of view, sure they sound similar, considering they are in different keys, and that one sounds like a perfect copy of hundreds of 70's songs. The fact is that despite kid rocks "rocky" history with regards to copying/stealing music, they are different songs. At least "So Hot" made it to the top of mainstream music charts, and "Slow Death" is NO WHERE to be seen. oh, and i forgot to mention that i come from the same town as foreman, but that certainly does not mean that he is in the right in this case.

57. Kid rock is very talented and you would see that if you ever attended one of his show's. The songs are totally different one is sooo hottt and the other one just plain sucks!! Besides this is just some guy trying to get paid by doing absolutly nothing... Kid Rock has busted his ass for years on making his music and damn good music I might add and this guy is trying to get a free ride. It will never work out for him the judge will throw that crap right out!! Keep On Rocking Kid!!!!
