Brit to Go the Way of Paris?

TMZ is in an LA County courtroom this morning as Britney Spears' attorney prepares to plead her case.

As TMZ first reported last night, Brit's lawyer Michael Flanagan will plead not guilty to charges of driving without a valid license on behalf of Brit Brit. Flanagan told us the issue of the hit and run has been settled with the alleged victim (and the charge will most likely be dropped), but he has not yet reached an agreement with the L.A. City Attorney on the driving without a license charge.

According to Flanagan, the City Attorney wants to place Britney on 12 months of probation. If they do, and she picks up another citation or happens to run over a photographers foot, that could constitute a probation violation and she could end up in jail just like Paris. Say it ain't so! The City Attorney would not comment the specifics.

16. there's no way they should drop that hit and run charge! she may have settled with the women on repair cost, but i saw the tape of that incident and she showed belate disregard for any property other than her own--if it weren't for the publicity, that women would be paying. no, brit broke the law and should be punished!

17. Jail time... stupid. Really. And as for probation... that sounds fair to me but as for her running over a pap's foot when they are all around/over her car... how would that be violating probation????!!! Out of control.

20. A perfect example of the out of control idiot attorney attitude in California. A fine for the offense would be most likely anyplace but California, there the "we are God" moron attorney attitude of the prosecutor's shows clearly why they and the courts need to be put under Federal supervision.

A year of probation for an offense that has no violence, no victem, no drugs, no weapon, no property or personal injury or damage????? Because then we can stick pins in Britney because we do not like her.

There is no justice in that state and this kind of attitude and mis use of the law and their position is an embarasment to our entire country.

Put these idiots under Federal supervision.

Go shopping for yourself and buy out the stores #2 Go out without underwear everynight and get wasted whether you have your kids or not - the most important rule - act belligerent with the judge in court, it will really help your image!

23. YAWNNNNNN......Calif courts you would think have better things to do than to make a federal case out of a minor fender bender in a parking lot. If this was anyone else.. We wouldnt be hearing about it.
Lets TALK about how the FLORIDA courts haven't done ANYTHING to NICK HOGAN Car RACING CRASH and STILL havent file any charges....NOw that left a young man a vegetable. and we dont hear nothing about that... OOOOO BECAUSE IT'S NOT BRITNEY.

Since she finally got her CA driver's license, this seems a bit harsh. However, they're probably looking at it in conjunction with her hit and run, so probation may make more sense.

30. NOTE TO PHOTOGRAPHERS: Stay out of the public right of way ...don't block traffic or your foot deserves to get run over...Photographer is used loosely in this case as obviously any photographer with actual talent has a real job
