Are You Barbara Walters?

She's a three-time Emmy winner and one of the most well-known taut faces in television -- but one TMZ photog couldn't tell if Barbara Walters was Barbara Walters.

Our cameraman spotted the 78-year-old den mother of "The View" outside Spago last night, and had the gall to ask Walters who she was. Making the scene more awkward was her male friend, who said, "No, I am Barbara Walters" and added that he was "positive" his friend was not.

Despite the diss, Babwa posed for cameras before taking off.

31. Barbara Walters has become a caricature of herself. She's been on TV too long and is oh so tiresome. She doesn't grasp the concept of loyalty. She trashed both Star Jones and Rosie and lies with measured ease. She uses her former self to make demands of ABC executives, who oblige an old useless woman.

32. Barbara Walters lost all credibility when she hired Rosie O'Donnell on the view and then let her rant her anti american remarks!

33. Miss Walters is a very classy lady. Wonder if we will look half that good.

34. I wouldn't brag about the fact that your own cameraman didn't know who she was.
I'd make a better employee with my eyes closed, hands tied behind my back, chewing gum, writing double entendres, while identifying this legendary icon as I sent photos back to you from my state of the art digitally enhanced cell phone cam. Honestly. And then when I get out of elementary and into grade 7, might even ask for a pay raise.

35. Babwa is looking more like Michael Jackson these days. She has a HUGE EGO! I've never seen a more pretentious human being in my life. In this day and time, Ba'Ba' would have never made it in broadcasting, and she knows it. Ba' Ba'...go away to a retirement complex somewhere would ya'...and for the love of all that is Holy...let Elisabeth Hasslebeck do the news in Arizona and GET OFF the View. Her husband Tim just signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Geeeesh...the show is fabulous now...better than ever...without Babwa' and Elisabeth they might just soar to Emmy level. Both Babwa' and Elisabeth have huge pretentious, overinflated egos...do you agree folks????????????

38. Nope, that's not Barbara Walters, it's a new dinosaur skeleton dug up in North Dakota.

The real Babs is much older.

39. Every time I hear that skank wanna-be Elizabth Hasselbutt speak I wished she had a ball gag around her neck. Her squeaky voice makes me want to grab a vomit basin and her uneduated opinions simply shows her ignorance to the world. This woman is not qualified to be a host on a program like the view. I did like the fact that she stood up to Rosie's antics and forced her out; however she needs to stay gone after she has her ugly baby. The sound of her squeaky voice makes my entire family sick.

40. Shame on you. Barbara Walters is a lovely person and a trailblazer for women in the media.

41. Sometimes I wonder just who reads these. The comments sure are rude and ugly. Barbara Walters supported her family when the father lost his money. From what I heard she also had a retarded sister. She was one of the first women in the TV posts where they are a commentator or journalist. Without her I doubt there would be any women doing a similar job. Perhaps you had better do your homework before opening your mouths.

42. I watch plenty of shows that deal with Celeb gossip. I read the magazines too. Normally I don't get offended by what is said. Who cares really? However, the piece shown on your show Monday about Barbara Walters was tacky & cruel indeed. I'm not a fan of Barbara Walters, I could care less about watching the 'view'.. BUT.. I think making fun of someones speech impediment is cruel. As a child I too couldn't say the letter "R" and I was teased constantly, until I was 11 and obtained the proper care to help me. It's the same as making fun of a kid/grown up in a wheelchair. It's a disability. Next time try to have a bit more TACT, granted, you're just a gossip machine.. But really.

43. I ysed to admire her but since she has sunk to the lowest on who and what 's said on her program by Rosie, Joy and now Whoopie, which is an insult to our country and one sided political views, she has sunk to their level of trash

44. Its a shame that these comments do not require the commenters to give their age, social status and IQ. That information would make it pretty clear that anyone who thinks its cute or funny to disparage a talented, intelligent and highly successful person on the basis of age or sex is likely to be an uneducated, talent-less failure. That BW should or would care what "little people" think is is ludicrous. Ignore the idiots, Ms. Walters, you're the Grand Dame of of TV interviewers and TV show hosts. Thanks for the memories!!!

45. I am a fan of TMZ but your piece on Barbara Walters was beneath YOUR dignity.
Ms. WAlters behaved as a reeal "Lady" and graciously offered ...in YOUR video..to let you have your turn at taking fotos and videos....She was kind, intelligent, lovely looking, and more polite than she should have been; however, because of the professional that she is and will ALWAYS be.....she went above and beyond social , personal, and civil graces.
Shame on you.
Your jokes at her expense are as old as Methusela.
You owe her a huge apology.
