"Lost" Star: "I Am Deeply Ashamed and Embarrassed"

"Lost" star Daniel Dae Kim has issued the following statement to TMZ: "I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by the events of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home. It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter. To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies. I am truly, truly sorry."

Kim was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence in Hawaii.

48. I feel your pain bro. I know the pressure is intense, as long as you've learned your lesson and take a cab or have someone else drive next time, everyone will soon forget.

49. I wish you and Matt Roloff would learn a very valuable lesson on the stupidity of drinking and driving.

Personally, I'd nail BOTH your hydes to the wall to a lesson to you AND to make an example out of you. You're little men, men... liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle men!

50. You know........I just don't get it.

I agree with post #4. Why can't these "stars" get a cab to go home or wherever they are going when they know they are going out to drink or get someone to drive them home when they are drunk.

These freaking celebs have money....rent a hotel room if you want to party.

They know the paparazzi are going to be following them when they go out. Why would they let themselves be put in a situation like this. Then they make some weak apology about "being sorry". The only thing they are "sorry" about is getting caught.

I bet my entire week paycheck this is NOT the first time Daniel Kim has driven drunk. This is just the first time he has been caught.

I am getting to the point where I think they do this on purpose to keep their name in the news.

I know I am going to wake up one morning, and find out one of these morons have killed somebody by driving drunk.

I do think some actors/actresses make the characters they play very believable to their audience and I applaud them for that, because that does take skill and it shows they do their job well.......but that is all it is....a JOB.

Do they BECOME the characters they play and forget who they 'really are" in the interim? Do they think they can go out and do ANYTHING they want and not have to pay the consequences because of WHO THEY THINK THEY ARE?

These drunk-driving stars are in sad state. They need to wake the f##k up and start acting like the professional they want us to believe they are. They are not fooling anyone but themselves.

51. "Lost" is a perfect name for the actors in this show.

52. Driving under the influence is a serious offense because it can destroy innocent lives. In your own case, it appears you realize the enormity of your offense and feel very remorseful about it and would make sure not to repeat it again, so it is proper to forgive you. So, you are forgiven, now, go back to acting in Lost.

53. I think his statement is genuine and I think he shows a lot of class in making it. Now, let's hope he lives up to it by not drinking and driving again. For the life of me I just don't understand why people--stars or just folks in bars--who drink think they can also drive. Maybe everyone just needs to go the chaulkboard and write this a hundred times: Drink, don't drive; drive, don't drink.

54. There is always another way for me to get home, and I live in a small town. No taxi's, no buses, no chauffeurs...just my feet and the smarts to know that drinking and driving are just wrong! Why do celebrities think that the law was meant for us lowly average people, but doesn't apply to them? I believe he is sorry. Sorry he got caught ! If he truly felt it was wrong to drink and drive, it would not have happened. Free will is a wonderful thing

56. What a decent and classy guy. I admire him. I believe our laws regarding DUIs are too strict. We're a society that celebrates with drinking, whether it's a wedding, a birthday party, an anniversary party, etc. I believe there should be limits, but they continue to make laws that are too strict and unreasonable.

57. I think that people should be locked up for DUI. It's bad enough that some celebs (and people in general) are just plain bad drivers, but putting alcohol into the mix is just criminal. YOU CAN KILL SOMEONE! You know that before you take the first sip.

58. What is with all these celebrities getting DUI? Don't they realize that they are risking not only their lives but others too. It is not right to drink and drive but at least he apologizes unlike all the others who have DUI.
