Orlando's Fate in D.A.'s Hands

Orlando BloomPolice sources tell TMZ the Orlando Bloom car crash investigation will be sent to the L.A. County District Attorney's office today for felony review. The investigation focuses on Bloom and a paparazzo who allegedly cut Bloom off before Orlando crashed into a parked car.

The lead officer tells TMZ that the LAPD will not make a recommendation on whether to prosecute either Bloom or the pap.

The LAPD's investigation centers on whether Bloom and/or the pap committed felony hit and run. The X17 photo agency has video of Bloom walking away from the crash, as one of the passengers lay in the back seat with a fractured neck. He was urged by paparazzi to return to the scene -- and he finally did.

Car CRashes -- click to launchAs for the mysterious SUV that may have been chasing Bloom at the time of the crash, the investigating officer tells TMZ the driver of a car that did not make contact with another vehicle could still be prosecuted for hit and run if that driver caused the crash. The officer would not say if he had identified the driver of the SUV.

No word on how long the D.A. will take to review the case.

31. It was an ACCIDENT, not exactly something he planned to do! So he could have very well been both traumatized and under an adrenaline rush when he walked from the scene--maybe he even had a mild concussion, who knows? The human brain can be injured by the slightest jolt. So for him to have wandered a bit from the scene is TOTALLY understandable. Kudos to the pap/paps who steered him back in the right direction, but whichever one cut him off? THAT is the one that is really needs to go to prison rather than Orlando. FORGET THE CELEB ANGLE FOR A SECOND... if someone was chasing you down the road and then cut you off in traffic, and it was YOU who had the accident, who would YOU consider more at fault? Yourself or the person who you felt threatened by that affected your driving?

32. I was in an accident once where someone cut me off and I hit them. I didn't hit my head on the windshield but I was dazed and got out of my car. Little did I know I was walking in the middle of a busy 4-lane intersection. Luckily a woman saw me from the sidewalk and yelled at me that I was in the middle of the road. She then ran to help me. No one knows if he was dazed or not but I find it highly likely. And to the people that post on here with nothing but horrible things to say about Mr. Bloom...what is wrong with you? You all have nothing better to do with your time than complain about someone you don't like? You obviously pay to see movies that he is in as well, and then complain that he is a bad actor. Usually, when people do that, it is because they are jealous of said person. All of the posters on here with intelligence find it quite comical how you don't like him yet you go out of your way to make nasty comments on here about him. And my opinion is that yes, the paparazzi caused this accident and they are who should be at fault.

33. Why don't we have a 100 ft rule for photographers. With the telephoto lenses available now, they still should be able to get good pictures.

35. "When he is told he can't leave maybe he is surprised that he's not even allowed to get help?"

Never heard of a cell phone?

You ARE right in that we didn't know his intentions. But the statement I quoted was absurd because Orlando HAS a cell phone and I am guessing going for help was not his intention.

36. People, people... he was just in an ACCIDENT. He was dazed and probably not knowing what the f--k was going on until the pap steered him back to the vehicle! What makes ANYONE here think that he'd have even been alert and aware enough to pick up a cell phone or check on his passenger? His only working instincts were for self-preservation, and told him to get out of the car and keep moving. There is no conscious thought at a traumatic moment and everyone acts differently! If there's a drowning victim, there are people who will run for help, others who will stand by and watch, still others who will leave, and maybe one or two people who will help. Why would a car accident be any different in terms of human variation?

37. This is another case of a celebrity getting away with reckless driving and blaming it on the paparazzi. Why don't they just stay home once and awhile or go to less public places??
I guess then the paps and media would be out of business---but the point is--IF THEY DO NOT WANT THE PURSUIT OF PUBLICITY THEN WHY NOT FOLLOW OTHER ACTORS, CELEBRITIES AND POP MUSIC STARS EXAMPLES -- OF PLAYING IT LOW KEYED AND COOL --I COULD LIST HUNDREDS OF STARS AND MUSIC TALENT THAT DON'T ATTRACT THIS KIND OF ATTENTION AND DON'T DRINK, DRUG AND DRIVE AND MANAGE TO STAY OUT OF THE LIME LIGHT.

38. Orlando is a great looking talented young actor who is appreciative of his fans and is humble and gracious. Leave him alone! I am grateful that neither he nor his friends were killed. But I hope for his sake, he doesn't drink and drive again. it was clear from the earlier video that he was wasted and he is lucky he wasn't arrested for D.U.I. i hope he takes this incident as a wake up call to act more responsibly and use his millions of dollars to take a cab or use a car and driver....
