Prince, Record Label Go Crazy over Dancing Baby

In the battle between record companies and Internet users over copyright issues, an 18-month-old baby dancing to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" finds himself smack in the middle.

Stephanie Lenz posted a 29-second video clip of her son dancing to the Prince track back in February, according to ABC News. In June, she received an email from YouTube saying that her video had been removed at the request of Universal Music Publishing Group, and that she could have her YouTube account canceled in the event of any future copyright infringements.

In response to Universal's "takedown notice," Lenz filed a "counter-notice" and her video was restored six weeks later. For its part, YouTube told ABC that they are bound by provisions in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to honor all takedown and counter-notices.

In a statement released to ABC, Universal said, "Prince believes it is wrong for YouTube, or any user-generated site, to appropriate his music without his consent ... It's simply a matter of principle."

76. How pathetic. Next time I want to download a Prince track, remind me to do it and LimeWire and not pay for it on Itunes. I'm all for paying to download, but not if the artist is going to be a douche about it. That's really ridiculous.

81. I would sue that bit*ch and the little kid. for everything they have. Make an example out of that little punk and put the whole family in the poor house. Not only is it copyright infringement, if the kid was a little darker and wore purplr he could be confused for Mr. symbol himself.

82. Send them a notice back and tell them under DMCA that it is fair use. Under DMCA youtube MUST put it back up, and then if forces Prince and his minions to sue over it . . . .

83. If it was so wrong and why did you tube put it back up. Second you know how many other adults and children have other singer's songs in the background. Or them signing the song artist song. People have down load tons of music and the have right to post their music. Third she already own his cd and play it for her children. I should not play his music at clubs, wedding and parties. You tape the joyful times of moment that you you can look back too. I guess Price just want make more money off people best memory.
