Copperfield's Attorney Accuses Feds of Improper Leak

David CopperfieldDavid Chesnoff, attorney for David Copperfield, tells TMZ that all the allegations against his client are false and that investigators in the case improperly leaked information to the Seattle Times.

"David Copperfield has never struck, forced himself or threatened any woman," Chesnoff said. "If some woman told anyone that he did, then she is not being truthful."

Chesnoff pointed out that these are not the first allegations leaked in this case which turned out to be false. He tells TMZ, "The media previously reported that the FBI seized $2 million in cash from Mr. Copperfield's Las Vegas warehouse, only to be contradicted subsequently by an FBI statement that the media reports were untrue and that $2 million was neither found nor seized."

Chesnoff went on to say, "We have been asked to respect the confidentiality of the investigation, but clearly law enforcement officials are not doing the same. At least three federal officials have been cited as sources in a Saturday Seattle Times story containing information about allegations being made. This not only unfairly and falsely defames my client, but it undermines the integrity of the entire investigation."

Copperfield, Chesnoff points out, has no blemishes in his past and is taking these allegations very hard, saying, "It is very hurtful for him to hear and read these horrible, untrue allegations being made against him by a still unnamed woman. As I have previously said, David Copperfield has never forced himself on any woman. He is not that type of person. He is a true gentleman in every sense of the word."

106. I don't know about where you people live, but where I live, even if the accuser DOES have evidence, it is still pretty difficult to convict someone of this crime. Reason being the person could have consented with the intention of turning them in for rape, or decided in the morning to do it after the person made the accuser angry. I've heard people saying they needed witnesses and all this crap; it's ridiculously hard to convict someone of this crime.
I saw someone say, 'if he's guilty, give him 10 years,' and I just couldn't help but laugh at that. There's no way he would get that long of a sentence even if he was found guilty. Rapists don't usually get that long of a sentence on their first offense. I've heard of 2 years, but 10? Plus it's David Copperfield... Celebrities don't seem to stay in jail very long.
Anyway, chances are, if it's anything like how it is here, he will be found innocent, because it seems to be that there's virtually no evidence to begin with.

108. 83. P.S.

I love the fake posters on here pretending to be women defending a rapist - "Jenny, "Erica" et al. No actual woman would do that, unless they were the wife or mother of the rapist.

You guys didn't actually think you were fooling anyone, did you?

Dear Cynic,
I am a woman, I have been raped, and I have never defended a rapist. I have seen the laws that have been put in placed taken advantage of by both sides of the coin. it becomes harder and harder to actually prosecute the a**holes because of the abuses. Again, Serious crime, Serious allegations, need to be handled professionally and if it is a rape, then the rapist needs to have the full weight of the law land on him. No Mercy. Federal officials have a job to do, that included investigatin the allegations. NOT TALKING TO THE PRESS. They can put the entire case in jeopardy due to unprofessionalism.
This is my Opinion, I am entitled to it as much as you. I use my name, you use a cute moniker. Stop trying to justify your position.
