Celebrity Justice
Lane Garrison Sentenced to Prison

A judge has sentenced "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison to a total of forty months -- nearly four years -- in state prison for the drunk driving crash that caused the death of 17-year-old Vahagn Setian.

As he sentenced him, Judge Elden Fox told Lane he thought he was a human being who made a very bad mistake -- and that he committed a crime and devastated three families.

Fox told Garrison, "I think you are truly remorseful," but sentenced him to prison because "the public needs to know crimes like this need to be punished and, unfortunately, you have to be the messenger." The sentence was based on Garrison's lack of prior criminal history and that he admitted responsibility, pleaded guilty right away and has offered the families financial assistance.

Before sentencing, a highly emotional Garrison told the victims' families he was "genuinely remorseful" and "sickened" by his behavior that night.

Garrison he will get credit for the 91 days he has already served. That, combined with California's Work Time/Good Time early release program, means he will likely be in state prison for about 20 months.

He must also pay close to $300,000 to the Setian family and to the two girls who were in the car.

Lane was quiet after the sentence was handed down and was taken away in handcuffs.

3. Less than 1 month in jail for each year the kid was alive? Wow. What a sad statement on how we value celebrity more than the life of our youth.

9. With credit for time served and 1/3rd off for good behavior this guy will be out of jail long before the dead boy's mother has finished going through 1 school year without him, 1 homecoming dance he wont attend, 1 soccer season he wont play, 1 set of family birthdays he wont attend. What a ridiculously low sentence.

Why is it wrong...because he is a celebrity? If you kill someone you go to prison...celebrity or not. Do you feel he is above the law?

11. Ironic he was in "Prison Break" and now he's in prison. It angers me to see someone get every opportunity for success and screw it up so royally. It really does.

12. WHY DO YOU GUYS DO THAT!
Brandy didn't get waisted first, then told everyone to jump in her car that killed someone. Brandy's was an accident. Mr. Garrison made a stupid choice to drink and drive. He gets whatever they throw at him.

13. Rialto....No, I mean the sentence is too light, you moronic idiot.

14. FORTY months??? this guy is more remorseful than any celebrity i have EVER seen, that sentence is RIDICULOUSLY high. so lindsay lohan can get 2 duis in three months, blame one one a black person, and only get a day in jail?? absolutely unfair.

15. Awww... I feel so bad for him. He looks so pitiful. It's a shame to see such a handsome young man go to prison.
