The Dog Apologizes

Dog ChapmanDuane Dog Chapman has issued the following statement apologizing for his racist tirade caught on tape:

"My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language. I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation. It was completely taken out of context. I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should have never used that term.

I have the utmost respect and aloha for black people – who have already suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred. I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world. I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused. In Hawaii, we have something called Ho'oponopono, where people come together to resolve crises and restore peace and balance.

I am meeting with my spiritual advisor, Rev. Tim Storey, and hope to meet with other black leaders so they can see who I really am and teach me the right thing to do to make things right, again. I know that all of my fans are deeply disappointed in me, as well, as I have tried to be a model for doing the right thing. I did not do the right thing this time, and hope you will forgive me. We learn from our mistakes, as my story of overcoming a life of crime has proven, and I will learn from this one for the rest of my life."

46. Someone ILLEGALLY taped Dog and leaked it... that person is who everyone should be angry with.

People get their panties in twist when you say the N word because they are black and the slave so they pull the race card thing and cry; I am sorry but the African Americans call each other the N word in songs or call us Whiteys and that is OK?
I am sick of it!
Bashing Christians is OK and taking God out of everything we founded this country on is OK but Dog having a PRIVATE conversation with his Son is headline news and we should hang him. I say leave DOG alone He is trying to do some good out there in this world. Start getting angry with all the crap that these rappers are producing and mostly people get a life!

47. I dont care how angry I get - there are just some words that would never come to mind to use in a tirade!

"YOU STUPID M-- F---!!!"

Maybe something like that and THAT would only happen if I were seriously upset and going into a blind rage.

Now - to my point. The N word would never come to my mind because I do not EVER use it. The only time that word is used is when someone is a racist and seperates people into an "us" and "them" category, no matter how big or small. DO NOT tell me you are not a racist if that word is in your volcabulary.

Apologize all you want, but at least be accurate about what you are sorry for.... you are sorry that you were caught being a man with very little moral character.

As for everyone posting some VERY strong racial comments one way or the other, you can just put yourselves in the same boat with Dog. If YOU werent a racist, you wouldnt be so damn mean with what you say in this forum, either.

50. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...
COME ON BRA... OWN UP TO IT...
YOU SAID IT, YOU MEANT IT...
YOU HAVE LET YOUR MOUTH OVER RIDE YOUR ASS, AND YOU GOT CAUGHT...
NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO DO DAMAGE CONTROL...
BESIDES WHAT A WAY TO TALK TO YOUR SON...
YOU SOUND LIKE A CONTROL FREAK.. A BULLY,
NOT A CONCERNED PARENT...

51. #29 As soon as you get hung up and lashed, then we'll talk. Until then, quit riding on the scars of those who have. They would be ashamed to know that they are made scape goats of. Grow up.

Posted at 12:30PM on Nov 1st 2007 by GROW UP-SERIOUSLY!!!!

52. This man said what was on his mind in a private conversation to his son. anyone who took anything out of that conversation other than the fact that he was talking about one person and one person only, is a moron. his family is not so different than a lot of families out there. the only difference is your definition of the n word. i believe that anyone can be one, not just people with dark skin.

56. That's a crying shame. I always thought that Dog was a cool guy, but, that just goes to show you that you cant judge people by how they act when aTV camera's pointed at them. Even though I'm a black man, I'm not offended by his racial tirade because this is America, and you have the right to free speech. Also, those words he said shouldn't take away from all the good things he has done for people.

57. #43 - I totally agree.

Al, Jesse and others are not "leaders" of the black community.

Note to white people: THERE IS NO SUCH THING! We are all individuals and as diverse in thought as we are in skin tone. Stop running to Sharpton or Jackson every time you say something racist. They do not have the authority to grant some divine forgiveness on behalf of black people. Make your public apology and move on. Sharpton and Jackson DO NOT speak for us.

Posted at 12:32PM on Nov 1st 2007 by Stop Calling Al

58. Who hasn't made mistakes. There is good and bad in all of us. I love the Dog.....he has overcome so many obstacles before.

I don't believe he deserves to be punished in anyway, after all wasn't this suppose to be a private conversation?

Some ppl aren't happy unless they are making trouble for others.
