Brit Under Investigation by LAPD

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD is conducting an investigation into a traffic mishap Friday, when Britney Spears ran over an L.A. County Sheriff deputy's foot.

We're told the "traffic collision complaint" was filed by the Sheriff's Department and the LAPD is conducting an "active investigation." We're told the LAPD is looking at the possibility of hit and run.

The incident occurred as Brit was leaving the L.A. County Courthouse after her custody hearing.

UPDATE: The LAPD tells TMZ "The LAPD is aware that Britney Spears was leaving the courthouse. We are also aware that a deputy was injured. The LAPD is unable to confirm the details on the deputy's injury because the investigation is in its initial stage."

76. Only in L.A. would this warrant an investigation. Taxpayers money used to investigate a cops foot getting run over. She's obviously too close to the car, Britney couldn't hear her screaming turn left, what a waste of money and time.

79. #65 PR... i agree...everyone wants to jump on the band wagon that the cop should have gotten out of the way... okay, let her fend for herself... she wants to be so irresponsible then by all means step on out there. Put that tax money somewhere where its needed.

82. She doesn't have a driver because every person that works for her runs to the tabloids and sells any sort of fabricated story. She doesn't feel like she can trust anyone. Duh.

85. Of course the LAPD has to investigate this! The deputy was injured on the job, so it's a workers comp case.

Britney needs to hire a driver when she goes to court because it's going to be like this each and every time.

87. If you do not want to get hit or have your foot run over---common sense, back up from the vehicle. Not to metntion, would any of us be able to drive with cameras in our face, or people all over our vehicle. PLEASE, cut her some slack already.
