Star Slaps Back -- No, You Did NOT Pay Me!

UPDATE: TMZ spoke to Star's manager who laid it out for us, on the record. According to her manager, this was a straightforward business agreement for Star to speak at the Health and Beauty Expo -- nothing more. The contract was breached, so Star did not appear. Had Star known she would be speaking for charity, her fee would have been substantially reduced or eliminated and she would have been there to speak.

Star Jones is giving the big girls she allegedly dissed in Detroit a big fat you-know-what, saying that they were the ones who breached the contract, not her. And yesterday, on her Court TV show, she called allegations that she bailed out of her appearance "a nasty shakedown."

In a lengthy dossier including her own blow-by-blow of what went down with Full and Fabulous, Star says that though she got $10,000 from the group before her scheduled performance, she never got $15K more that she was owed. What's more, Star claims that she didn't get "the level" hotel that she requested when she went to stay in Detroit, nor was any ground transportation provided.

Star says that she and husband Al Reynolds paid for their Super Bowl weekend "at our own expense" and that she's still never received any loot for the appearance.

78. Star Jones is a disgrace to all women everywhere .She is least likely to be truthful when her moral compass is put into question .The whole "I lost it all by dieting" thing comes to mind .If you cant be truthful to yourself ,you sure as hell cant be truthful to others .
I wish she'd just go away ,you know .To bilk a non-profit in this way is disgraceful and morally indescent .

79. I just wanted to add that she so strongly denies doing anything wrong, but when the reporter from our local news station interviewed her she didn't have anything to say. If she is so sure she did nothing wrong then why couldn't she just tell him that. It is because she had to take 3 days and find some loop hole and claim that everyone else is lying -- not her. Shame on you Star.

82. Only a freeloading nit would take 10 g's and airplane tickets and enforce a bad contract. It would at least be semi-forgiveable if she had returned the tickets.

85. Never argue with a woman who can buy all the airtime and internet space she needs to tell her story.

Star's own version of this story is quite telling. From what she writes, it seems clear the organization in Detroit was having financial difficulties, from the beginning. If she accepted a deposit months after it was due, and a lower amount than originally agreed to, she wasn't holding to the letter of the contract. By not submitting the deposit on time and in the amount agreed, the group violated the contract before she even got her airline tickets. And yet she accepted the $10,000 and the tickets and flew to Detroit for the weekend, knowing full well the organization was having financial problems.

She claims she spent the weekend in Detroit "at her own expense" - but it seems to me the weekend was paid for by the organization, with her keeping that $10,000 deposit. She did nothing for it, but enjoy Super Bowl weekend, and everything she did was all perfectly legal. In other words, she got a gift, thanks to a group of women in Detroit who wanted her to come and talk about self-esteem and character and feeling good about yourself even though you're a plus-size woman.

So perhaps she should just sit down and be quiet.

89. I am thoroughly disgusted with Star Jones. When I think of all of the people, who have far less money, time, and resources then her, do their best to help and support others through their time, talents, and treasures, while she sits there and complains about not getting paid to do a speaking engagement for young girls and women, it makes me sick! I have to wonder how many people she relied on for encouragement and support throughout her life charged her money for their time. Star Jones should be utterly ashamed of herself, and CourtTV and its sponsors should be appalled to be associated with someone such as her.

90. What a low class fake bitch!!! I mean seriously! If she was giving an appearance for a small charity benefit then how dare she ask for so much. The charity had to raise money just for her fat ass to come. Frankly I think its stupid that they chose her. I would have chosen someone else who didn't cheat their way out of loosing all that weight and then lie about.

Star Jones, you have no class at all. You said you didn't want to use your tv segment to talk about yourself when there are so many more things going on in the world, yet you did. Talk about being a hypocrite.
