Celebrity Justice
The Audacity -- Hogan Blames Victim for Injuries

Nick's rep, Adam Handelsman, EVP of 5WPR, issued the following statement to TMZ:

"Nick and the entire Hogan Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single car accident on August 26, 2007.

Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena a court of law. The family's primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick's longtime friend John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.

The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his.

Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt. There has been much speculation as to the speed and wet road conditions surrounding this accident. Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate that this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident. Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident.

We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

17. Unbelieveable!! When is this little prick and his family gonna accept responsibility?? So I guess they feel that it was ok for Prick..(I mean Nick) to be drinking and then race his car at a high rate of speed, and they feel it is his friend fault for getting hurt severely cuz he didnt have a seatbelt on. These people sicken me. Hulk and Linda are at the number two spot for being lousy parents.

21. 20mph over the speed limit is hardly speeding, The guy SHOULD have been wearing a seat belt. Just because he got got hurt doesn't make him less culpable. The guy got in a car with someone who was drunk. I guarantee we've all done that at some time in our lifes. Let's face it there both idiots! harsh...yes true...yes

22. Lets see, Nick was driving under the influence, he was racing another card and he was speeding. BUT NOOO000ooo it had nothing to do with Nick. Give me a break. I can see now that Nicky will be pleading not guilty to these charges. In other words another spoiled rich kid that takes no responsibility for his actions.

23. Hogans: Not only does your statement sound insincere, but your comment on the seatbelt is really crass. Prepare to pay financially for the monster you have created.

24. Geez, this looks like it was written by Nick's mom and polished up by a PR firm.

I cannot believe for an instant that they are trying to spin this so it looks like it was John's fault.

I can't believe this clan.

I hope he gets nailed really hard. A meaningful Jail term and a permanent suspension of his driving rights.

I hope the Hogan family gets nailed really hard also after seeing their attitude.

25. Yes the bad guy in this was that dastardly punk who wouldn't put on his seat belt, poor Nick wouldn't have any problems if it weren't for that jerk in a hospital bed.

Every time I think I know how low Nick is, I find out I don't actually have a clue.

Hey it's hard out there for a Father of the Year...

27. HATERS AT WORK AGAIN. COULD WE ALL TAKE A STEP BACK? JOHN WASN'T WEARING HIS SEATBELT AND HE WAS NICKS BEST FRIEND FOR A LOOOONG TIME AND KNEW AND LIKED HOW FAST NICK DROVE. IT WAS HIS CHOICE AS AN ADULT!!! NICK SHOULD BE PUNISHED, BUUUUUT JOHN 'IS' AT FAULT ALSO. MY SON IS NOT ALLOWED TO 'RIDE' WITH ANY BOYS IN CARS, BECAUSE SPEED IS A RIGHT OF PASSAGE FOR ALL BOYS. .02 BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL COULD HAVE BEEN COUGH SYRUP, READ THE LABELS!!!!!!!! QUIT HATING

28. Heck Folks,

Brandy Norwood ,also known as Moesha, caused a women death, and you can see her in pictures clubbing her black butt off slipping drinks. But Nick has to spend big time behind bars eventhough technically he is still a minor. Is there a dual justice system? Have we gone from pro White to Anti-White? Brandy deserves to be in jail too for manslaughter period with a 15-20 year sentence!
I don't like this double standard at all.

Posted at 10:50AM on Nov 7th 2007 by Nick but what about Brandy

29. Is anyone really surprised by this??? I mean how many times have the FL police let him off for speeding?? How many times as this little punk not been held accountable for his actions? While this press release is a pitiful one, I am not surprised at all. The Hogans do not want to take any responsibility for this and the reason being - John was not wearing a seat belt. Not that Nick was speeding. Does the person who released this statement truly believe what they wrote? I mean going the speed limit would not damage a car like that, excessive speeds on the other hand would mangle the car. This statement is a slap in the face to John's family. Its like saying if a drunk driver hit and killed someone, they should get off because the victim was not wearing a seat belt.

But why compare apples to oranges, Nick will get off and when he turns around and kills a family memember of the judge or one of the star struck cops, maybe then he will get punished, but he will never have remorse becuase he was not raised to take responsiblity for his actions. I wonder if it was Bimbo Brooke in the car what would have happened.

30. Everyone makes their own choices in life. John choose to ride in the car with Nick and I am sure he knew they were going to be racing. He choose not to wear a seat belt in a racing car. Everyone always likes to point the blame, but don't you think John is just as much responsible for the choices he made that day?
