Celebrity Justice
The Audacity -- Hogan Blames Victim for Injuries

Nick's rep, Adam Handelsman, EVP of 5WPR, issued the following statement to TMZ:

"Nick and the entire Hogan Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single car accident on August 26, 2007.

Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena a court of law. The family's primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick's longtime friend John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.

The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his.

Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt. There has been much speculation as to the speed and wet road conditions surrounding this accident. Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate that this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident. Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident.

We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

61. according to the dmv...."accidents are not "accidents". Vehicle crashes are due to human error."

62. What a spoiled BRAT!!! I make everyone put on a seatbelt when they get in my car. Since Nick is so responsible, why didn't he make his passenger put it on. Because he is a drunk, spoiled brat. It amazing that he took so long to seriously hurt someone. It was only a matter of time before he killed someone. He should never be allowed to drive again.

63. Another example of parenting that holds their children unresponsible for thier actions. No suprise coming from this worthless family.

May this child get a strong wake up call and may Hogan get a grip on his son having to own up to his reckless actions.

67. I totally agree with # 13. My sentiments exactly.Let's hope he gets more than a slap on the wrist and probation even if he is a "juvenile".Accidents happen because of one's negligence and Nick was the driver of the car, no doubt showing off for his friend. I doubt his friend is impressed now. What really gripes a lot of people is the fact that Nick was bragging about his excessive speed on more than one occasion and got away with it . So much for Florida law enforcement! Let your average citizen try that and see what happens. What?? Don't you know who I am?

70. So you guys don't think that this John guy had anything to do with this?? This guy chose to be in the car with Nick, and don't ya think he may have been having fun? He could've asked Nick to slow down or not to race, but most likely he was right along side Nick trying to beat that other car. I'm sure Nick feels bad, he should, but he deserves a little sympathy too. This could be one of your kids that did this to somebody and then what, you'd want all this trash talked about them too?!

72. Brandi HAS BEEN partying (TMZ has pics of it), but she was not drunk or speeding, she was driving in traffic (she already admitted that she didn't stop quickly enough). She is NOW getting ready to face the judge, so, no, she didn't "get away with it."
Nick was underage drinking and driving 60mph in a 40mph zone. He also didn't require his passenger to wear a seatbelt. In California, I drove with my mom as a passenger. Seh didn't want to wear her seatbelt and I got the ticket for that. Apparently, the driver is responsible for the passengers (even though my mom told the cop that she was the one who chose to not wear a seatbelt).
Sadly, Nick will have to learn his lesson the hard (celebrity) way: go to rehab (Lohan), community service (Dogg), pay a fine (Lohan), spend a few hours in a local jail (Ritchie).

73. It would seem to me the Hoagans are saying it was the other boys fault he is in a vegetable state because he was not wearing a seat belt but OUR SON was and so it is not his fault. They are excusing there sons action and shifting the blame onto the other kid. How terrible and then saying how we are standing by this family. With a statement like that I don't think so. How about that his son is drunk!! That is why he is being charged. What they are saying is it is ok to drink n drive but wear your SEATBELT and all will be fine and dandy!!!
