Celebrity Justice
The Audacity -- Hogan Blames Victim for Injuries

Nick's rep, Adam Handelsman, EVP of 5WPR, issued the following statement to TMZ:

"Nick and the entire Hogan Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single car accident on August 26, 2007.

Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena a court of law. The family's primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick's longtime friend John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.

The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his.

Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt. There has been much speculation as to the speed and wet road conditions surrounding this accident. Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate that this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident. Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident.

We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

77. Nick driving under the influence of alcohol
Nick consuming alcohol while underage.
Nick driving well over posted speed limit.
Nick illegally tinted his car.
Nick cited several times, not ticketed, and warned to SLOW DOWN by police officers.
All John's fault?

79. Just another sad example of a celebrity brat and too much too soon. I will use this article to show to my teenage son and what can happen when you think you are so cool.

80. That little son of a b*tch! The nerve of him to say how John should've been wearing a seatbelt! That may be true but in my mind, Nick Hogan doesn't get to talk or judge because he shouldn't have been drag racing on a pedestrian street!

81. I CAN BELIEVE THAT THEY SAID JOHN WAS NOT WEARING HIS SEATBELT..SO IS THAT HIS FAULT HIS SO CALLED FRIEND CRASHED BECAUSE HE WAS DRINKING..GROW UP NICK YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A SPOILED BRAT WHO GETS HIS WAY I HOPE AND PRAY THEY THROW THE BOOK AT YOU AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE YOU WILL GROW UP.....

82. California seatbelt law requires the DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE to ensure that all passengers are utilizing their seatbelt.

Mr. Hogan's son, who believes (due to propping by parents) that he is quite the catch despite having done nothing will be QUITE THE CATCH IN THE PEN...

The civil judgment will be huge in this case...

83. HE DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED AS AN ADULT FOR THE CRIME HE COMMITTED AGAINST HIS FRIEND! HE ALLEGES HIS FRIEND WAS NOT WEARING HIS SEATBELT AND HE WAS NOT DRIVING OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. WE ALL SAW THE PICTURES - HE WAS DRIVING WAY TO FAST FOR THE CONDITIONS. JUST BECAUSE YOUR FATHER IS "FAMOUS" DOESN'T MEAN YOU GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING!!!!!!

84. They have GOT to be joking! So let me get this straight... this was all a tragic accident and it's John's own fault that he's a veggie for the rest of his life because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt?

This entire statement is beyond appaling. Nick's actions were (and continue to be) reprehensible. He is a spoiled, selfish child whose illegal and irresponsible actions have cost a young man his life. As horrible as this sounds, I almost wish John's family would "pull the plug" so that Nick could be charge with Vehicular Manslaughter or Depraved Indifference Homicide - whichever carries fits the crime and carries more time in prison.

85. Fact of the matter, speeding or not, drinking or not, EVERYONE NEEDS TO WEAR A SEAT BELT. THEY SAVE LIVES!!!!! No one will ever know what the outcome would have been had that poor guy been wearing his seatbelt, but chances are he wouldn't be in the horrible shape he is in right now. ASK ANY COP or PARAMEDIC IN ANY STATE, SEATBELTS SAVE LIVES!!! No one ever focuses on this issue when speed or dui are involved. It's about time someone does. Don't worry about Nick not being punished, he will live with this the rest of his life. No one should EVER get into a car and not put one on. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!

86. Nice.... LOVE how they make it out to be JOHN'S fault. Well he wasnt wearing a seatbelt...
Pffft' that is so low how they throw that in there!! Maybe Nick should sue John for ruining his Career...cause no one wants to sponser the little loser !! Grow up and take your medicine Nick....you can run but ya cant hide from the truth!! And may John somehow recover from this and be able to smack the h*#@ outta Nick!

87. I agree 'Once again they are blaming the victim' Celebs and THEIR families need to stop making excuses for these kids that think they are touchable. Face the facts he WAS speeding his friend is in critical condition. It is HIS fault. The seat belt is a factor but not a major factor. As an EMT I have seen people hurt by their seat belts also. Let's not down play the fact that celebs need to be held accountable for their actions. No community service for Nick have him spend some quality time in jail and no drivers lisc for the next few years.

88. My God, the pathetic Hogan family just doesn't get it. I am glad that Nick was arrested for what he did. He and the rest of the family should be arrested for the pathetic statements that they are making, about the seatbelts! It was Nicks fault for racing and he should have to pay for it! They need to take responsibility. They discust me.

89. Someone needs to wipe that smirk off his face! What a jerk. He's the cause of his best friends PERMANENT injuries and he doesn't even CARE! Too bad it wasn't HIM who got hurt. The family would be singing a different song THEN.

90. Shame on TMZ for the sensational BS headline. You totally misrepresented this information, as usual.
