Dog's Apology Tour: Barking Up the CNN Tree

Duane Dog Chapman continued his tour of contrition last night -- pleading for forgiveness on "Larry King Live," one night after doing the same on "Hannity & Colmes."

During the hour-long conversation, Dog tried his best to keep the apologies coming, at one point he even started to whimper when talking about his wife Beth's reaction to the shameful situation.

TMZ caught Chapman on his way out the door where he gave our camera a message to his fans -- "Please forgive me."

31. When my oldest son played football at seven years old (we are white) he had team mates of every color - included on his team were black children that teased and taunted each other all the time - calling each other the "N" word. The FIRST and only time he said that word to another team mate - I pulled my son AND the other child aside and explained to my son in front of the other child that was black that the "N" word was a hateful word and comes from a very hateful place in time and then asked him in front of his friend if he meant it that way - he sadly responded no and automatically apologized to his friend he loved to play football with. His sweet friend smiled and said "I knew you didn't mean it that way" - they laughed and went back to practicing their football. We need to stop giving this so much negative attention either way. Educate those around you where the "N" word came from and what a hateful part of the heart it came from. Parents have allowed to let their children/teens listen to entertainment that makes it look cool to speak that way. PARENTS are to blame for it becomming such a cool word to use. Black people say it is acceptable to call each other that but it is not acceptable for a white person to call them that. There are words that the black community has used to refer to white people as well that are not taken kindly - but you don't see it hitting CNN, MSNB, TMZ, etc. PARENTS EDUCATE! ENTERTAINERS SET AN EXAMPLE! REVERENED SHARPTONS AND JACKSONS STOP PUTTING YOURSELVES ABOVE GOD MAKING PEOPLE THINK THEY NEED YOUR APPROVAL FOR FORGIVENESS. IT IS BETWEEN THAT PERSON AND GOD! GOD DOES NOT NEED YOU TO FORGIVE FOR HIM.

32. TMZ...please get a new story. This guy barely qualifies as a celebrity anyway, I think you have beaten this dead horse enough. Your personal bias is showing, move on to something that interests your viewers. Sheesh.

34. I think Dog is a racist in prvate, but the fact is this was a private conversation that should have remained that way. It's not like he went around in public or in his show saying that word. I think he should be corrected by those close to him for using that terrible word, but it is nobody else's business, unless he says it in public, then it is our business. Do I forgive him? I don't think it is anyone's place to forgive or not forgive. But he needs to clean up his act. He is a public figure now.

35. What the heck do you people want blood? He said he was sorry. But no, that's enough for most of you. You need to bash and trash his whole family. Does that make you feel better?

He's not a MURDERER! He's not a RAPIST! He's not a PEDOPHILE! He's a human being that used poor judgement in his choice of words in a PRIVATE conversation! You would destroy all the good he has done for the use of ONE WORD?

You insult and berate his family members and use words that are just as much off-limits as the one he used and yet you sit in judgement? You berate a man for showing sincere emtions because he cries? What the hell is wrong with you? How self-righteous of you!

Do you realize this coversation happened back in March? Tucker chose his time to release this tape and take money for it. How low is that in your book? The haters amongst you were haters before you even heard this tape or saw this story. This just gave you more fuel for your fire.

Some of you have higher expectations of celebrities than you do for yourself, your family or your friends. Stop putting people on pedestals and you won't be surprised when they take an occassional tumble.

NOONE is perfect. EVERYONE is human, therefore we ALL make mistakes and the smart ones will learn from their mistakes and MOVE ON!

37. Also, look at all the hateful slurs that are being flung around by those condemning him for the same. Fat bias, southern bias, white bias. Stop baiting tmz, you're bring out the worse in human nature, which appears to be pretty bad regarless of race, weight, head size, breast size, region of the country, whatever.

39. Did anyone catch last night on Larry King when Larry asked Doug about returning to A&E? Dog commented that he wants (I think he needs) 90% forgiveness before he begs for his job back. Larry said to him that maybe people should write A&E on his behalf and Dog immediately started to reject that idea. Dog than went on to say that he wants to present A&E with the statistics himself that everyone (90%) of all people forgive him and the other 10% don't matter, because they would be ex-convicts that he helped put behind bars. I think he was afraid people who were not in favor of him returning to the air would email A&E and voice their opinion.

41. I heard the tape, and it is not what the enquirer is making it to be, it is the national enquirer for god sakes, god bless Duane Dog Chapman he is a good man. I hope his show goes back on air soon. I hate to see racisim of any kind, and keeping a white man off tv for the same thing a black man would not be is a discrace.

42. Love the dog

Everyone thinks it - and the conversation was a private one and not ment to be out in the public - really i dont care - i think the same - every race has 2 classes of people -

White - Whitetrash (or what ever slang suits you)
African Americans - Ni*****
Puerto Rican - Sp*******

the list goes on...so get over it.

43. Sorry to say this but the Dog looks dirty as hell...does he WASH? he looks like he really resides in a doghouse. I suggest he soak in some turpintine for a couple days to remove some of the dirt that is stuck in the crevices of his skin...YIKES! All of them look funky and dirty.

Instead of asking black folks for forgiveness did he ask his son and his son's girlfriend for forgiveness? did they oblige?

That show and their attitudes are whack!!

44. Well, I don't condone what he did- but we all mess up at times & sometimes in racist ways- everyone has been guilty of racist thoughts or words at some point or other in their lives. He's part Native American- so he understands racism- it's just he messed up & someone took a private moment and ratted him out!

45. Turn on comedy central and lets count how many times a black man/woman says the word cracker, whitey, honkey. Guess what....It's all viewed publicly. Let's not forget how many times you hear blacks using the "N" word. If I were "Dogg" I would sue everyone involved. It's callled "freedom of speech". Would he be talked about if he was calling the woman a honkey??? It is so stupid to think someone could lose their carreer over speaking their mind!!! Everyone of you reading this has said something they shouldn't have at one time or another...Are you out of a job???
